A landmark moment for Dutch deep tech: Nearfield Instruments secures $380 million in Series D funding, the largest deep-tech funding round ever raised in the Netherlands. We are pleased to co-lead this round together with Fidelity Investments Temasek Walden Catalyst Ventures and M&G, alongside Qatar Investment Authority Invest-NL TNO and ING. We are incredibly proud to have been part of the Nearfield journey from the very beginning and to have supported the team along the way to this remarkable milestone. It has been inspiring to see the company evolve into a global category leader. Nearfield's success is powerful proof that we can build world-class deep-tech champions and unicorns in the Netherlands and in Europe, provided we have the patience, capital, industrial expertise and long-term commitment required to scale breakthrough technologies. As AI drives unprecedented demand for advanced semiconductors, metrology and inspection have become critical enablers of next-generation chip manufacturing. Nearfield Instruments is at the forefront of this shift, providing the high-precision measurement and process control solutions required for increasingly complex semiconductor architectures. The new funding will support Nearfield's next phase of growth, including accelerating innovation, expanding production capacity, strengthening global customer support and deepening R&D collaborations with leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. Congratulations to Hamed Sadeghian Roland van Vliet and the entire Nearfield Instruments team on this remarkable milestone. We look forward to continuing to support their journey as they scale a global technology leader from Europe. Read more about it at Reuters https://lnkd.in/dDZwdB-v

Investing in deeptech companies
Over ons
Innovation Industries is an European deep tech venture capital firm. We invest in deep tech companies with ground-breaking technologies that can address the fundamental challenges of our time. Our portfolio companies are delivering real impact in their industries, ranging from climate-resilient vegetable seeds to safer and more efficient batteries. We are committed to catalysing positive change in the world, which is why we only invest in companies that support one or more environmental, social and/or corporate governance (ESG) goals. Overall impact is important to us, so we focus on both late-stage startups as well as early-stage founders who are making a difference. We are technology enthusiasts with decades of experience in (bio)physics, physiology, chemistry, engineering, and more. We take a hands-on approach to investing, where we act as not only a financial investor but also a business partner, actively supporting our portfolio in reaching their growth and impact goals. Active since 2000, we are the most experienced deep-tech VC firm in the Netherlands and have become a leading player in the Benelux region. We have 20+ years of partnership with key research institutes and experts that support our portfolio.

One of the greatest strengths of the deep tech ecosystem is the willingness to learn from one another. During our recent CEO Day, founders and CEOs from across our portfolio came together to share experiences, discuss common challenges, and exchange perspectives on scaling. Anne Mieke Eggenkamp challenged us to think about how leadership and governance must evolve as companies grow. One key insight was that successful scaling requires leadership and governance to evolve ahead of the business itself. Deep tech companies operate in an environment of constant transition. This demands curiosity to keep learning, courage to make difficult choices, and speed to evolve before today's strengths become tomorrow's constraints. It also requires understanding the difference between change and transformation. Change improves what exists. Transformation challenges assumptions and often requires leaders and organizations to reinvent themselves before the business demands it. Days like these remind us that while every company follows its own path, many leadership challenges are shared, and that there is tremendous value in learning from one another. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a valuable exchange.

A major step forward for next-generation imaging: eyeo raises €40 million in Series A funding. Congratulations to Jeroen Hoet, Alden Carracillo, Gerd Van den Branden, Jan Genoe and the entire team on bringing this breakthrough technology to market. We are excited to lead this round, alongside imec.xpand, Invest-NL, Qbic Fund | Venture Capital, HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds and Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM). eyeo is tackling a fundamental limitation in imaging: today’s sensors lose up to 70% of incoming light. With its nanophotonic color-splitting technology, eyeo captures every photon – tripling light sensitivity and unlocking a new level of image quality, resolution, and efficiency. Built on years of proven research and compatible with existing CMOS platforms, this breakthrough paves the way for next-generation imaging across smartphones, XR, industrial and smart city applications. With this funding, the team will accelerate sensor development, expand its partner ecosystem, and bring its technology to volume production. We look forward to continuing to support eyeo on their journey as they scale this technology globally. Congratulations to Anne-Marije Zwerver, Nico Hendrickx and the entire Groove Quantum team on unveiling their 18-qubit semiconductor spin-qubit processor and securing €16 million in funding. We are excited to co-lead the latest funding round together with 55 North, alongside Verve Ventures and the EIC - European Innovation Council Fund. Groove Quantum is taking a decisive step toward scalable quantum computing, demonstrating the world’s largest semiconductor spin-qubit processor, built using CMOS-compatible technology, the same foundation as today’s CPUs and GPUs. This approach opens a credible path toward manufacturing quantum systems at industrial scale. By combining quantum-optimized materials with established semiconductor processes, Groove is addressing one of the field’s biggest challenges: scaling to the millions of qubits required for real-world applications. With this funding, the team will accelerate toward a 100-qubit processor and advance the development of a full-stack quantum computing platform. We look forward to supporting the team as they push the boundaries of quantum computing.
