This week, Klaas Foppen & I opened Promptwatch’s first US office in New York City 🗽 and we are hiring for all GTM roles listed below. 14 months ago we launched the platform and signed for a shared desk in Amsterdam, and now we’ve spent the last week riding metro’s all across the city viewing offices. I want to say it seems crazy to read that last sentence back, but when I think about all the hard work and all the commitment the entire Promptwatch team has put in since we launched, I know we are exactly where we are supposed to be. We’ve had the pleasure of building a smart and dedicated team in Amsterdam with a culture none of us have experience before and we can’t wait to do the same here in the US. If you are, or you know someone who is: - Account Executive - Senior Account Executive - Senior Growth Marketeer - GTM Engineer (Outbound) Then Comment below, apply directly, or send me a message. We are all extremely excited for this next chapter and we have a lot more exciting news to come!

Conversations with ChatGPT influence OpenAI's crawling directly: Prompt ChatGPT with your URL, ask it to read the page/summarize it, and the crawlers show up. We watched it happen on Promptwatch crawler logs: - One prompt with the URL (the seed) - ~2 hours later GPTBot starts crawling - 188 GPTBot visits overnight (almost the entire site) - Completely new site, no search indexes yet This is GPTBot (training), not OAI-SearchBot or ChatGPT-User, so a crawl, not citations (yet) But the key takeaway here: Interactions with ChatGPT have an impact on crawling.

We increased daily ChatGPT citations from 200 to 1700+ for a brand new domain. This is the 3 step process we used to create content that gets cited and increases brand mentions. The most important thing to note is that we didn’t “over-engineer this”, we wanted to keep this process as simple and scalable as possible. Step 1: Setting up a prompt strategy. When we started tracking prompts, we weren’t trying to find a singular golden prompt that would unlock everything. We grouped our prompts into 3 categories A) Organic Prompts (80% of the prompts). All around the category, problems potential customers are facing, industry questions. But most importantly, no brand or competitor mentions. B) Branded Prompts (10% of prompts). Just too keep a temperature on sentiment around the brand C) Competitor Prompts (10% of prompts). To understand the sentiment around our competitors and where we need to increase content coverage to influence groups A & B. These groups are then set into Monitors in Promptwatch Step 2: Analyzing the Query Fan Outs. This is where we find the topics for our content pieces. Once we have a few days of data of responses, we use the Promptwatch MCP in Claude to analyze all of the QFOs for prompts in our organic monitor. Here we’re looking for patterns: What wording is being repeated, Average number of Fan outs, etc.. Step 3: We then write content based on these recurring themes in the QFOs and publish. Once they’re published we measure how long does it take to get crawled, how long does it take to get cited, and the content that gets cited first, we double down on. The content that doesn’t, we kill and move on. This continuous process is how we keep growing our daily citations.

We increased daily ChatGPT citations by 580% in 5 weeks. Using only AI Generated content. Here’s how we did it. As we shared in previous posts, we have a few domains that we test different strategies for AI Search. This test focused on: - Comparison guides - Individual explanation pages - Category pages Immediately the comparison guides were cited by ChatGPT, but it quickly flatlined (~250 crawls a day). Then, ~7 weeks later, our daily citations jumped overnight (~1700 crawls a day). Klaas Foppen & Nathan Necciai started to analyse what was happening with Promptwatch’s MCP and noticed this: - The citations shifted away from Comparison guides to Individual explanation pages These pages were different from the comparison pages as they were written on singular topics, but with a lot of context. Before the spike in citations, these individual explanation pages weren’t even crawled by the citation agent, only by GPTBot. GPTBot started crawling these pages thousands of times a day and then once they were indexed by OpenAI, the citations took off. This shows that: - Broader but still relevant content (comparison guides) helps you get cited by ChatGPT, but you will hit a ceiling. - Having focused content around singular topics will then help you break through that ceiling. You can’t see insights like this in Google Search Console or Google Analytics. You need to have an actionable view into your crawler data like in Promptwatch if you want your brand to be an authority in AI Search. *This data is the same domain that is no longer ranking in google we shared previously, proving again that ranking on Google does not correlate with ranking on ChatGPT.

Claude might be all over your timeline, but it's not the LLM you need to be optimizing for in AI Search. Not yet. We pulled the Claude citation crawl data across all websites connected to Promptwatch to see how the trend tracks against Claude's rising adoption over the past few months. End of March into early April showed a sharp jump in citation crawls from Claude. But it's still under 2% of all citation crawls. Claude users are adopting it for automation work, while the other models (ChatGPT, AI Overviews, and the rest) still capture the vast majority of consumer intent and transactional search traffic. Follow Promptwatch to track how this develops, and whether Claude's citation sources need a place in your strategy.

Promptwatch doubled its revenue in just 3 months! 12 months ago, Klaas Foppen & myself set the platform live and now we’ve passed €2M ARR. Looking back over the last 3 months, it feels like a year (in a good way). While growing from €1M → €2M ARR: - Our GTM motion grew even more with Thibaud Guenneuguès solidifying our presence in the French market, Claudia Serrano helping us taking our Marketing even further, & Kavita Mer to set up our Customer Success team to help our users get the most out of the platform - Increased our development capacity with Jon Tarrant who shipped our API & 360 Insights. - Jose Nikolai A. & Diana Stankovicova help more companies make AI Search their next revenue channel - Nathan Necciai organized the best booth at this past edition of brightonSEO - Saw Pieter Boerboom built a world class MCP - Jordy van den Aardweg who continues to build the best Content Agent in the industry - Shipped an insane amount of new features across the platform to show businesses exactly how AI discovers & mentions their brand - Moved into (another) office to house everyone - Started the Promptwatch Run Club - Are still looking for the best coffee machine - & I even grew a moustache But what I’m most proud of is the team & the culture we’ve built here from our Amsterdam office. This milestone continues to show that business care about how AI describes their brand and are able to turn AI Search into an additional revenue channel. If you’re looking to join a team that works hard and has a lot fun while doing it, we’re hiring for: - Business Development Representative, come be apart of one of the strongest GTM engines in Europe. - Product Designer, shape the usability of the platform helping companies be at the forefront of the highest intent search channel - Senior Full Stack Engineer, build & expand the leading AI Search platform on the market
