𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗷𝗸, 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 Financial close has been achieved for Project Bleiswijk: a 36 MWth geothermal project and associated heat distribution network in Bleiswijk, developed by 85 Degrees Renewable together with Gaia Energy. The EUR 82 million senior debt facility is the first tranche within a EUR 200 million financing framework provided by ING Nederland and Rabobank on a 50/50 club basis.   The project consists of three geothermal doublets and a heat network that will supply 34 greenhouse growers in the Central Oostland region with reliable renewable baseload heat, replacing a significant part of their natural gas consumption. Beyond Bleiswijk, the framework has been set up to accommodate the further build-out of the platform as new projects reach maturity.   Rebel is proud to have supported 85 Degrees Renewable as financial advisor, from the early structuring of the framework through the financing process and the negotiation of the finance documentation. Geothermal asks more of lenders than most renewable asset classes, technical risk in particular. Therefore, getting a geothermal platform financed on a long-term project finance basis is not a given, but this transaction shows that well-developed geothermal heat infrastructure has grown into a bankable asset class in its own right.   Congratulations to the teams at 85 Degrees Renewable, Gaia Energy and Foresight Group on this milestone, and many thanks to ING Nederland and Rabobank and to the other advisers involved (Stek, CMS, Sproule ERCE, QGM, VHIVA, Gridlines) for the constructive collaboration throughout. Our Rebels Yann Pleindoux and Maarten van der Vlies have just delivered a three-day training on project finance for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) as part of the Shiraka programme. The programme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken) and implemented by the Port of Rotterdam.   Rebel was invited to design and deliver a training focused on project finance in the context of Egypt's green industrialisation ambitions. Over three days, we explored the financing of projects such as green hydrogen, green fuels and renewable electricity, as well as the enabling infrastructure needed to make these developments possible, including water desalination, port infrastructure and other critical assets in economic zones.   It was a pleasure to exchange knowledge and discuss the opportunities and challenges of financing the next generation of sustainable industrial and port developments. We were also pleased to be joined by Erik van der Heijden from Port of Rotterdam, whose contributions added valuable practical insights to the discussions.   Many thanks to the participants from the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) for their active engagement, and to our partners in the Shiraka programme for making this collaboration possible. We're excited to welcome Salma Afida to the Rebel team. 🙌 Salma joins our infrastructure and energy transition work across Southeast Asia. Over the past 3.5 years she has worked in advisory across the project lifecycle. From feasibility and financial structuring. To supporting governments, state-owned enterprises, and development banks across the region.   Trained first as a civil engineer, Salma has built her career on a single question: not only how infrastructure gets built, but how it gets financed, structured, and delivered. That engineer's instinct, paired with a finance foundation, is what she brings to the commercial side of the work, and what drew her to Rebel. She is also pursuing a Master's in Sustainable and Green Finance at NUS Business School.   Salma brings curiosity, an engineer's eye, and a real drive to learn. We're glad to have her building alongside Phway P and Jeroen Kok as Rebel grows its presence in Asia Pacific.   Welcome, Salma. Looking forward to what we'll build together!

𝗢𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗹, 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗹. On 11 June, we welcomed former and current Rebels aboard Vessel 11 in Rotterdam for the very first Rebel alumni event. The location couldn't have been more fitting: moored in the Wijnhaven, just a stone's throw from the Rebel office, where many Rebels began their journey. It was an afternoon and evening filled with shared memories, inspiring conversations and new connections. We kicked off with a welcome by Mira Groot, followed by a conversation between Bart Budding, Rebel veteran Hidde Siemonsma and the audience. Inspired by Hidde's essay, the discussion centred on three questions: What do you take with you from Rebel? How do perspectives change outside Rebel? And what can Rebel learn from those experiences? The result was an open and engaging dialogue that brought together insights from both past and present. The conversations continued over drinks, where there was plenty of time to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new people and exchange ideas. Thanks to our creative Rebel Matchmakers, old connections were renewed while new collaborations and friendships began to take shape. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this first edition such a success. This event was intentionally organised as a small-scale pilot. We know there are many more former Rebels out there, and we look forward to welcoming even more alumni to future editions.
