Given a growing population and shortages of healthcare personnel, there is a clear need for a future-proof system to keep up with demand for diagnostics.

The most common invasive medical procedure in the world is still done by hand. The lab automated everything else years ago. The analysis, the reporting. Just not the needle going into your arm. Toon Overbeeke built a company for that. Vitestro's Aletta uses ultrasound and AI to find the vein, draw the blood, and apply the bandage. They just closed an oversubscribed $70M Series B from Labcorp, Mayo Clinic, and Sutter Health. Fred Moll is on the board who founded Intuitive and turned robotic surgery into a category. The surprise in their research is that elderly patients were the most comfortable with the robot, not the least. Younger people rarely get blood drawn, so they're more nervous. Older patients sometimes do it weekly. They're not as scared of the needle, but they are tired of the inconsistency. Great phlebotomist one visit, three painful tries the next. Eliane brings more than 25 years of global leadership experience across MedTech and biotech, with deep expertise in product development, clinical strategy, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and commercialization. As CEO of Xeltis, she has helped strengthen the company’s strategic direction across vascular applications, led major financing and strategic licensing initiatives totaling more than €110 million, and advanced the organization into pivotal clinical trials in preparation for market approvals and commercialization. She joined Xeltis in 2015 as Chief Development Officer, where she led clinical development, product development, and regulatory strategy. Prior to Xeltis, Eliane held senior leadership roles including Vice President of Global Product Development at The Medicines Company, Chief Development Officer at Profibrix, Founder and owner of Signifix, a quality assurance and regulatory affairs (QA/RA) consulting firm, and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at IsoTis Orthobiologics, a publicly traded company later acquired. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 We are incredibly proud to share that the results of our multicenter ADOPT clinical trial have been published in Clinical Chemistry, representing the first peer-reviewed multicenter study of a fully autonomous robotic system performing diagnostic venous blood draws. A huge thank you to our study partners at Amsterdam UMC, St. Antonius Ziekenhuis, OLVG Lab BV, Result Laboratorium, and Mayo Clinic. Key takeaways: 📌94.5% overall first-stick success rate, with strong results across key subgroups including elderly patients, patients with obesity, and those with self-reported difficult venous access (see publication for full details) 📌0.3% hemolysis rate and 0.6% adverse event rate (all mild), both below published rates for manual phlebotomy 📌 90% of patients reported less or similar pain vs. a manual draw, and 82% would prefer Aletta® or had no preference for their next visit A major step toward establishing autonomous phlebotomy as the new standard for diagnostic blood collection.
