Met een totale financiering van € 23,7 miljoen wil Carbeau de technologie verder opschalen. Onderdeel van die plannen is een pilotfabriek in Delfzijl. Mooi voor Carbeau, maar ook voor Noord-Nederland. Want juist hier ligt een sterke chemische basis, met partijen, kennis en infrastructuur die kunnen helpen om dit soort technologie verder te brengen. Vanuit de NOM investeren we € 1,5 miljoen. Maar onze rol gaat verder dan financiering alleen. We helpen ook om ander kapitaal aan te trekken en verbindingen te leggen met regionale partners die belangrijk zijn voor de volgende stap. Precies daar zit voor ons de kracht van deze case: innovatieve technologie, internationaal kapitaal en regionale samenwerking komen hier samen. Once operational, this will be the world's first commercial-scale plant converting plastic waste directly into renewable aromatics, producing approximately 10,000 tonnes of renewable BTX per year with a 70–80% lower lifecycle carbon footprint. Reaching this milestone reflects fourteen years of dedication by the BioBTX team, from the first lab experiments to commercial execution. The project's financing is supported by BioBTX’s shareholders among others Invest-NL, Infinity Recycling, Covestro, NVNOM and Carduso Capital B.V Capital, alongside debt funding provided by Colesco Capital, FEAS (Fonds Economische Agenda Startkapitaal, funded by Nij Begun) and the Provincie Groningen, as well as a DEI+ grant awarded by Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO). We especially would like to thank the full BioBTX Team, its shareholders and partners for their continued commitment and confidence in the PETRA project. The long-term commitment from everyone involved has been instrumental in bringing this technology from lab to commercial scale. For us at ChemFrame, this is a milestone we are especially proud of. Our role in this journey was focused on investment enablement — bringing strategic investment interest to the opportunity and supporting the pathway to secure the capital required for the company’s next phase of growth. This is exactly the type of work we believe will shape the future of sustainable industry: connecting breakthrough technologies with the right capital, industrial partners, market access, and scale-up pathways. Yap Chie Cheung vond dit interessantYap Chie Cheung vond dit interessantWe are pleased to announce our collaboration with Portuguese textile manufacturer Casa da Malha - House of Knitting and sportswear brand Lacatoni to explore the potential of PEF (polyethylene furanoate) in textile applications. Together, we have developed a range of textile prototypes incorporating PEF-based yarns and fabrics, including a prototype sports shirt developed by Casa da Malha for Lacatoni. PEF, marketed by Avantium under the brand name releaf® by avantium, is a plant-based, recyclable polyester alternative made from renewable feedstocks. Combining sustainability benefits with strong performance characteristics, PEF offers promising opportunities for a wide range of textile applications. The sports shirt prototype will be showcased at Milano Unica in Milan from 7–9 July, one of Europe's leading textile trade fairs, providing an opportunity to demonstrate how next-generation materials can contribute to the future of performance apparel.
