We're Thomas and Theodor, the resident Computer Science/AI nerds on the Risk Business Delivery team, and we'd love to share a bit about our internship so far 🤓 The Risk Business Delivery team sits right in the middle of risk measurement and technology, where we focus on building solutions for the different risk teams across the Fund. It's been super exciting to see how AI and technology can improve quality checks and efficiency in the risk domain ⚙️🤖 Our project is DRIFT, an end-to-end data quality assurance pipeline powered by AI agents, aimed at making data testing faster, more consistent, and easier to verify within risk measurement. Pro tip: Data is everything for AI. Feed it garbage and you get garbage out, so quality data and good context matter enormously! We're now heading into the final stretch. The next few weeks will be hard work, building toward presenting our project to the whole Fund in the last week. We can't wait! 🚀

Om oss
Norges Bank Investment Management manages the Norwegian Government Pension Fund Global, often referred to as Oljefondet or the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund. The aim of the fund is to ensure responsible and long-term management of revenue from Norway’s oil and gas resources so that this wealth benefits both current and future generations of Norway. Our objective as manager of the fund is to generate the highest possible return on the fund. We aim to achieve this in a safe, efficient, responsible and transparent manner, and within government guidelines. GLOBAL PRESENCE The fund is the largest single owner in the world’s stock markets, owning almost 1.4 percent of all shares in the world’s listed companies. This means that we have holdings in over 8,000 companies worldwide. In addition, the fund owns hundreds of properties in some of the world’s leading cities and global distribution networks, invest in renewable energy infrastructure and receives a steady income from bonds issued by governments and related institutions and securities issued by companies. We have offices in Oslo, London, New York and Singapore. We also have a Paris office for our Real Estate. Our global presence brings us closer to the markets we invest in and ensures stronger links with partners in different parts of the world. DIVERSE WORKFORCE As manager of one of the world’s largest funds we have developed a highly skilled investment organisation with a global outlook. We are more than 650 people from 38 nations. The large size of the fund implies great responsibilities and corresponding opportunities. We can offer a broad exposure to pressing issues in the industry and great learning opportunities along the whole scope of its specialities. We are looking for experienced investment professionals, as well as new talent.

Hi everyone 👋 We're Simen Svensson and Johan Fosseidbråten, this summer's Active Equities interns in Oslo. Active Equities' mission is simple: use fundamental company analysis to beat the market. We're on the Cross Sector team, focused on quality investing in companies with durable competitive advantages 🎯 Beyond company analysis, here's our main project this summer 👇 We're building a hub that acts as a "shared brain" across the team, helping them get ready for the "era of agents." 🧠 Agents thrive on data, and in a team of analysts and portfolio managers, there's a lot of valuable data that's hard to capture. Think: a decision a PM made in conversation with an analyst, or another team member's dialogue with Claude. 🤖 We're building low-threshold ways to capture this kind of data and structure it properly. NBIM already has a ton of excellent internal AI tools supporting the investment process, our goal is to let both humans and agents connect to them seamlessly, with the best possible context: the right data, structured the right way 🔧

Hello LinkedIn 👋 We're Ingrid and Franziska, this year's interns in the Active Ownership department! Over the summer, we are working on AI-driven research on sustainability topics🌍 Ingrid is focusing on automating climate and human rights processes, using AI to make it faster to find the companies not yet disclosing their impact. Franziska is reviewing current issues in the responsible AI field and how NBIM can address this as an active owner. So far, the internship has been an inspirational experience with a steep learning curve and lots of ice cream. Can't wait to present our project findings in a few weeks, even though that sadly means the internship will soon be coming to an end.

Hi from a few of the Technology & Operations interns! 👋🏼 We’re already halfway through our internship, and the time has flown by!🏃🏽♀️ We’re really enjoying our time here at NBIM, and it’s exciting to start seeing results from our projects. 🌟 Ida, Knut and Herman are interns on the AI team, one of several teams across Tech & Ops. Our summer project is about making manual, time-consuming processes easier and better with AI. One of the coolest things about working on the AI team is that we get to collaborate with people across the whole organisation who use our solutions! 🤝🏼 William, Marcus, and Noah are interns with the Valuations department of Tech & Ops. William and Marcus are working on using AI / ML techniques in anomaly detection for explaining daily Net Asset Value (NAV) deviations, while Noah works on using AI to detect anomalies within forex impacts on fund value. It has been great gaining insight into how the fund manages and controls its assets! 🌐 We’re looking forward to the second half of the internship! 😄

Hi LinkedIn 👋 We're this summer's interns within the Market Strategies department, split into two teams working on different projects. Team 1 is working on the Investment Simulator, combining market data and portfolio history to quantify behavioural biases and evaluate trading performance. 🌐 Team 2 is studying index rebalances, predicting the extra trading volume it triggers which is used as a signal for our portfolio managers. 📈 A candid look at the summer so far: Steep learning curves, tackled with access to the best AI models and no shortage of tokens to burn through. And colleagues who, despite full calendars, keep making time to sit down and explain things properly, no question too small. Hard to ask for more from a summer internship - we're super excited for the weeks to come! ⭐ Lise Helen Bragstad, Oda H. Amundsen, Alexander Laloi D., Simen Littorin Birkeland, Julia Vik Remøy, Zahir Saeed

Hi, I am Nikita Upadhyaya 👋 This summer I am working in Active Strategies with the renewable infrastructure team at the fund 🌱⚡️ Two weeks in and it had already been an incredible learning experience. My project is to build a dashboard that tracks public and private valuations across renewable infrastructure 📊 So far I have spent my time getting to know how the team works and shaping something that fits the way they already do things. A real highlight was visiting our London office and seeing how closely teams work together across locations ✈️ The people are what stand out most, and everyone has been genuinely welcoming, with a real culture of learning and sharing ideas. This has been really valuable for me as I am working alone on my project. Excited to see where the project goes over the rest of the summer. Grateful to be here! #oljefondet #NBIMSummerInterns

How does an extreme weather scenario affect the value of the fund? 📊 Our stress test report reveals: 📉 In our Extreme weather events scenario, the fund’s value can decrease by 420 billion US dollars. That’s about 20% down from today’s value. In this video, you learn more from our Senior Climate Risk Analyst Ginevra Goldin. We manage the fund with the aim of the highest possible return with moderate risk. To achieve this, we need to identify, measure and manage the risks the fund faces. We use multiple approaches and metrics to assess the risk in our management of the fund: 📊 Stress testing 📊 Concentration analysis 📊 Factor exposure 📊 Liquidity risk The stress test is a collaborative effort from our strategy research team and our risk department, with input from investment teams. The full report is available on our website, https://lnkd.in/egxf5BQV #oljefondet

Today marks 30 years since the first inflow to the fund! 📆🎉 Erik Hilde was one of the portfolio managers handling the first ever transaction, and he still works here to this day. 📝On a bill dated May 30 1996, it states the transfer of enmilliardnihundreogåttienmillioneretthundreogtjueåttetusenfemhundreogto. In English, that’s about 2 billion Norwegian kroner. 30 years later, the fund manages 2 trillion dollars on behalf of the people of Norway 🇳🇴 #oljefondet
