    𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝗿𝘆'𝘀. Our Easy Pick Blister has won the German Packaging Award 2026, in the category Functionality and Convenience. The jury called it one of the standout solutions of this year's competition, citing it for innovation, quality, and forward-thinking design, the kind of solution that pushes the whole industry forward. It's a validation of the team's passion and ambition to always try to exceed our customers' expectations. Of obsessing over details, the end user may never consciously register but that create that intuitive, smooth experience. Blister geometry that lets a component lift out in one motion instead of three. A cavity shape that guides the product into the surgeon's hand the way they'd actually reach for it. The Easy Pick Blister started as a simple question: how do we make handling easier, without compromising anything MedTech demands of it. We are proud seeing that work, and the passion behind it, validated with this prestigious award.     What are you working on at the moment, Anela? "I've recently spent a day with a customer in the wet lab, testing a surgical tool designed to cut very hard bone. It's one thing to discuss design requirements on paper or build a 3D model. It's another to test the functionality properly, which means simulating real-world conditions as closely as possible. For me, that means gloves on, into the wet lab and making the cuts myself. Does the instrument feel secure in my hands, or does it slip once blood and fatty tissue are introduced? How much downward force do I need? Can the device handle the applied forces when used to make cuts? In the OR, the surgeon's hands must control the instrument, never the other way round. That's feedback you can't get on paper. Blood, soft tissue and fat all change how a device behaves, and none of it can be recreated in a 3D design environment alone. Feeling how a product performs under real conditions is what bridges the gap between the screen and the surgeon's hands. Whenever a customer is open to it, I recommend an in-person wet lab assessment before design improvements begin. Often, they learn as much about their own desired outcome as I do.     Two centenarians in one family. Elos Medtech was founded in 1923. Josef Ganter Precision Mechanics opened its doors in Germany's Black Forest region only three years later. This year marks the 100th anniversary of what is today our Dauchingen site, part of Elos Medtech's network of 12 production sites across three continents. "A company doesn't stay successful for 100 years through luck," said our CEO Winfried Schaller at the celebration. "It stays successful because people deliver quality, take responsibility, and keep adapting." Four, maybe even five generations of employees have shaped the site, which today is highly specialised in surgical instruments and dental applications. It's these long histories, this experience and technical excellence built over decades, that make Elos Medtech what it is today. No single site can do everything, but together our network covers the entire journey: from development and industrialisation through manufacturing, assembly and packaging to fully integrated solutions. That's how we deliver value for our customers that no site could deliver alone. "For 100 years, this site has kept developing with its customers," says site leader Ernst Dietrich.   • What do sustainable practices actually change for customers? The direct impact is efficiency: less energy per unit produced, less material per shipment, less waste across the line. That translates into leaner operations, which over time affects cost, capacity, and how reliably we can deliver for our customers. Over the past year at Elos, it has looked like this: shifting more production to renewable energy, redesigning packaging to reduce material use and transport weight, or investing in more efficient equipment across all our sites. Small shifts individually — but cumulatively, the kind of discipline that flows through to the products we develop with and manufacture for our customers.   • When manufacturing problems emerge during late-stage validation or industrialisation, design changes are often constrained by regulatory timelines, tooling is committed, and the cost of a single iteration loop is measured in months, not weeks. Michael Mocker, Manager Project Engineering NPI at Elos, has seen this pattern often enough to know what separates the programs that manage it from the ones that don't. It’s when the manufacturing partner is embedded in the NPI process from the beginning, not when drawings are released. “Our NPI Stage Gate Process gives product development teams something that is difficult to achieve otherwise: a transfer to production that proceeds as planned, because the conditions for success were established at each preceding gate. A smooth path to market access relies on process development that runs parallel with product development and manufacturability input that shapes design decisions before they become fixed.
