What if the network could do more than connect the world around us? What if it could also sense it? Ericsson and AT&T recently demonstrated advanced network sensing outside AT&T Stadium, using 5G infrastructure to detect, locate, and track drones in real time. The demonstration offers a glimpse of how capabilities associated with 6G can begin taking shape today. By combining connectivity, sensing and intelligence, mobile networks could provide greater awareness around major venues, critical infrastructure and other complex environments. Watch network sensing in action and see how this collaboration is helping bring the future of networks into focus. #NetworkSensing #5G #6G #ISAC #Ericsson #ATT

AI is changing what mobile networks need to deliver. As generative AI becomes more multimodal, mobile and agentic, networks must support more than rising traffic volumes. Uplink performance, latency, reliability, jitter, security and mobility will increasingly shape the quality of AI experiences for consumers, enterprises and industries. For CSPs, this creates a clear opportunity. By advancing 5G Standalone, enhanced uplink, differentiated connectivity and network exposure, the network can evolve from best-effort connectivity into a programmable platform for AI innovation and new business models. 40% of fans attending live events say they'd pay a premium for guaranteed connectivity. 📊 That's a commercial signal, not a consumer preference. Public 5G now serves more than 100 sports and entertainment venues in the US. At the 2025 American football final, 5G traffic ran 3:1 ahead of Wi-Fi, with Wi-Fi volumes dropping by half. The shift to 5G as primary venue access is under way. For communications service providers, the business case runs deeper than fan experience. Venue revenues represent 27-57% of total income for professional sports leagues. Five operational touch points (parking, ticketing, security screening, food and drink, merchandise) all depend on reliable, low-latency connectivity to protect that income. 🏟️ Private 5G and network slicing are the architecture that makes differentiated service delivery possible at venue scale. Ericsson's Connected Sports and Entertainment 2026 report maps the evidence and the path forward, from fragmented wireless infrastructure to hybrid public/private 5G. When the crowd surges, quality beats peak speed. ✅ At a global racing event in Japan, SoftBank ran a real‑world 5G Standalone (SA) trial with five network slices on one shared network, serving fans, payments, and live broadcast at the same time. 🏎️ 🎯 The challenge: meet different needs in the same place without hurting the baseline experience. 🔎 The approach: build headroom, then apply intelligent control. Massive MIMO and added millimeter‑wave (mmWave) capacity raised the floor. Closed‑loop automation with per‑minute visibility tuned quality as traffic shifted. 📢 What the validation revealed: premium use cases and general attendees can coexist. 5G SA users saw clear uplink and downlink gains compared to 2025; payment terminals stayed responsive, and broadcast uplink was delivered via mmWave. For CSPs, capacity and control together unlock quality-based connectivity. 👉 Explore the full story in our Mobility Report article: https://lnkd.in/eBTnx6YP #Ericsson #MobilityReport #NetworkSlicing #5G #5GStandalone #Networks

Autonomous Networks require more than AI-powered automation. As network complexity grows, CSPs face a critical challenge: how to increase the speed of change without increasing operational risk. In a new industry perspective co-authored by Ericsson and Telstra we explore why layering AI onto existing automation frameworks is not enough to achieve Level 4+ autonomy. In the absence of AI, networks are more susceptible to errors, which can impact service quality and overall performance. This creates what the paper calls the fragility trap: the risk associated with change leads to manual governance, slower releases, overprovisioning and rising costs. The paper outlines a different path, built on: ✅ Intent-driven operations ✅ A machine-interpretable knowledge plane ✅ Agentic AI operating within trusted guardrails ✅ Decision-safe autonomy at machine speed This shift is about more than operational efficiency. It enables CSPs to accelerate innovation, improve resilience, optimize resource utilization, and create new outcome-based business opportunities. 📖 Learn why the future of Autonomous Networks depends on intent, knowledge, and trust, not just more automation in the paper: https://lnkd.in/e4WRvQ33 #AutonomousNetworks #NetworkEvolution #AI #Ericsson
