  • Intermittent catheterization is widely recognized as the recommended first-line approach for bladder emptying in people with lower urinary tract dysfunction. Now, we know how LoFric performs over the long term in real-world practice. A new 5-year prospective study by Taffo et al., published in British Journal of Urology International Compass, April 2026, provides valuable clinical insights into long-term outcomes with LoFric® hydrophilic catheters. The study reported: • Low and stable reported rates of urological complications over time among study participants • No observed increase in urinary tract infection incidence during the study period • Sustained quality of life based on self-reported health scores • High reported user satisfaction (ranging from 94–100% in the study population) For healthcare professionals, these study findings provide long-term clinical insights into outcomes that matter in daily practice, including reported complication rates, urinary tract infection incidence, self-reported quality of life, and user satisfaction over time. • Klara Combines Customer Care with Digital Support For people starting intermittent catheterization or transanal irrigation, the first weeks are critical¹. This is when routines are shaped, confidence is built, and support matters most. With this in mind, Klara Brattberg, Customer Engagement Manager, and her colleagues have worked to strengthen how Wellspect supports people from day one of their continence care journey – combining customer care with digital support. “It’s about meeting people where they are. The ambition is to provide the right support at the right time and give people both guidance and confidence as they get started,” Klara explains. By combining tailored digital onboarding journeys with the expertise of our local Customer Care teams and nurses, the team creates a more personal, connected experience – one that provides both practical guidance and ongoing encouragement. And the impact goes beyond the people we serve. It also reflects how we work internally. Behind this initiative is close collaboration across markets, functions, and teams. Together, colleagues across Europe have contributed to bringing this approach to life. “This has been a true team effort,” Klara explains. “From content creation and program design to local rollout and system development, collaboration has been essential to making this work.” The result is a more consistent experience – helping people who rely on our solutions build confidence early and establish a reliable daily routine. “When people do well on therapy, everyone benefits,” Klara concludes. “That’s how we make a real difference.” Interested in learning more about Wellspect? • Every long-term ambition is built through small, steady steps. Reaching net zero emissions by 2045 is our goal, and we continue to make practical choices that move us closer — including how we optimize energy use across our operations. • Smarter cooling: By replacing older systems with new ammonia-based cooling units, we expect to reduce CO₂e emissions by around 200 tons by 2030. • Cleaner transport fuels: In 2025, we switched from diesel to HVO for shipments from Sweden to Germany, France, and the Netherlands — reducing CO₂e emissions by 79 tons. • More efficient logistics: A new intercontinental sea route between Europe and the U.S. has significantly reduced road transport, saving 21.8 tCO₂e in Q4 2025, with strong potential for further reductions in 2026. Progress toward a long-term goal is rarely loud or dramatic. More often, it’s built through a series of thoughtful decisions – and we’re committed to making every one count. • Children with severe bowel dysfunction often require complex bowel management routines that can significantly affect daily life. A prospective study by Di Mitri et al. evaluated outcomes after initiating transanal irrigation (TAI) in pediatric patients with refractory bowel dysfunction using the Navina Smart® system. After 60 days of treatment, the study reported: • Significant reduction in fecal incontinence episodes • Elimination of daily soiling episodes in the cohort • Discontinuation of rectal enemas • Reduced reliance on oral laxatives Beyond symptom improvement, the study also reported improvements in school participation and confidence in daily activities. These findings add to the growing evidence supporting TAI as an important option in pediatric bowel management. • With today’s launch of LoFric® Origo™ Pro, we’re proud to introduce a catheter designed to simplify everyday life for men in need of intermittent catheterization. LoFric Origo Pro is designed to support complete bladder emptying and therefore reduce one of the key risk factors for urinary tract infections¹. Built on the proven long-term safety, high user satisfaction, and well-liked design of LoFric catheters²˒³, LoFric Origo Pro is developed to support confidence from the first use and throughout the daily routine. It has 12 smooth eyelets, designed to drain urine and particles in a single uninterrupted flow, without the need to reposition the catheter. “LoFric® Origo™ Pro is designed to deliver reliable performance that healthcare professionals and their patients can trust from the very first use and throughout the daily routine,” says Vincent Maes, Vice President Commercial, Wellspect HealthCare. “LoFric® Origo Pro combines the benefits of multiple eyelets with the ability to completely drain both urine and particles. While many catheters require rotation or adjustment to achieve full emptying, its 12 smooth eyelets enable efficient drainage in one position – no twisting, no second-guessing. This makes the experience simpler from the start and builds confidence over time.” With LoFric Origo Pro – following the introduction of LoFric® Elle™ Pro – we now offer multiple Pro eyelets in catheters for both men and women. This marks an important step in our continued efforts to support better bladder health and improve quality of life through easy-to-use and reliable solutions⁴ for people managing continence care needs.
