Congratulations to this year’s conferred Companies of Good! As we mark the 10th anniversary of Company of Good, we celebrate more than a milestone. We celebrate a decade of businesses stepping forward to create positive impact for people, communities and the environment. Today, over 1,000 companies have been recognised across the Company of Good framework, reflecting a growing movement of businesses that are embedding purpose into the way they operate and contribute to society. At this year's Company of Good Conference and Conferment, we explored the theme "10x Multiplying Impact through Purpose" and the role businesses can play as ecosystem multipliers, creating value beyond organisational boundaries and helping build a more caring, inclusive and sustainable Singapore. Over the past two days at Temasek Polytechnic (TP), we saw the culture of giving come alive. 🔥 TP’s Seeds of Good Fair brought together 9 community partners and 300 student volunteers that welcomed over 1,050 attendees to discover the many ways they can make a difference. Here are some of the highlights: 🌈 9 community booths featuring interactive activities across diverse causes including persons with disabilities, mental wellness, pet therapy, senior care, children and youth, and other community initiatives. 📖 6 Human Library sessions featuring authentic stories from individuals across the TP community 🎤 A Community Impact Talk reflecting on 50 years of supporting persons with intellectual disabilities, sharing insights from decades of service. 🤝 Befriending activities where students connected with community partners over lunch 🎨 An interactive project exhibition at the Library, where students showcased creative, playable ideas for social impact. 🎪 The vibrant student fair atmosphere, complete with live music performances and food stations kept the crowd buzzing all day At NVPC, we believe in nurturing the next generation of givers and that begins with creating opportunities for young people to discover what giving means to them. After more than three years at NVPC, Stella L., Manager, Corporate and Industry Partnerships, embarked on her Take-A-Pause (TAP) Leave, spending a month in Italy learning a new skill while gaining fresh experiences, perspectives, and insights. During her time there, Stella learnt the art of gelato-making, forged new friendships, and immersed herself in Italy's rich culture and heritage beyond the kitchen. Reflecting on her journey, Stella shared: "Like the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz, I found my courage to face new challenges, to be confident and vocal, and to be open to the opportunities presented to us. Take-A-Pause (TAP) Leave is an NVPC initiative that grants employees two weeks of paid leave for every three years of service, encouraging them to step away from work, recharge, and return with renewed perspectives that enrich both their personal growth and their contributions at work. When our NVPC colleagues share the same passion for giving back, they don't just talk about it. They sign up together! That’s what happened when an interest group for volunteering with children through art came together at NVPC. Chek Liang and a few teammates signed up together to volunteer for Artful Play, developed by Playeum in partnership with SHINE Children and Youth Services. As a volunteer, Chek Liang participated in eight sessions over two months helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds discover play through art, guiding them as they dreamt up and built their very own games from craft materials. At NVPC, we live out our vision of building a City of Good. Each staff member gets up to six days of Volunteer Leave a year, so staff can dedicate time during the work week to give back. What shapes a culture of giving? The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) World Giving Report 2026: Donor Insights show that generosity is influenced by more than income or incentives alone. Trust, belonging, social norms and a sense of impact all play a significant role in whether people choose to give. Singapore is featured as a case study in this year’s report, with reflections from our CEO Tony Soh on how culture and policy have worked together to strengthen giving over time. We’re proud to have supported the inaugural Festival of Deeds by Kids, organised by Little But Loud — a groundup that encourages young changemakers to serve their communities. A finalist at the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards 2025, they also launched the “Network of Deeds by Kids” at the Festival. This platform connects youth-led groundups with fellow changemakers, social service agencies and community partners — creating a hub for children and youths to collaborate and drive impact together. The Festival brought together 200 young changemakers, partners and community organisations — a strong reflection of the growing momentum in youth-led action for good in Singapore. We were honoured to also have the opportunity to share perspectives on how groundups can grow their impact at the event. Matilda Leong, Head of BAGUS Together at NVPC, encouraged aspiring groundup founders to start small — focus on taking the first step and grow progressively over time. For those exploring ideas, BAGUS Together also offers coffee chats to help youths refine and move forward with their plans. On youth motivations, she noted that groundups can begin for different reasons — from genuine passion to VIA or portfolio-building. Regardless, these starting points do not define eventual impact. Many still go on to sustain their initiatives and create meaningful change, and their contributions should not be discounted. She also shared that having multiple ground-ups working on similar causes is not a drawback. What matters more is how they can collaborate — leveraging each other’s strengths and networks to deepen impact. BAGUS Together supports this through spaces for groundups to connect, exchange, and work together. The launch of the Network of Deeds by Kids is a significant step towards strengthening the ecosystem for initiatives led by young changemakers.

As we celebrate Father’s Day this month, we share the story of Chester Ong, the dad who turned volunteering into family time. For Chester Ong, a father of two, he remembers how a simple, no-strings-attached monthly contribution helped his family in the past. More than the amount, it was the dignity that stayed with him. Today, Chester pays it forward through NVPC’s Giving Circles—bringing people together to support families with resources, time, and connection.
