Strategic plan content research often focuses on developing a written plan. Little research has focused on who engages in planning and who does not. This study investigated the relationship between individual and firm differences and the extent to which planning takes place in the firm. Owner demographics, such as education, age, and years in business, had little relationship with planning activity levels while firm sales and number of employees were related to several planning activity measures.

Century Classroom: Are We Facilitating Academic Dishonesty?

However, the effects of more recent advances in technology, such as classroom management software, e-mail technology, and the widespread use of Instant Messaging, have not been investigated to date. Spurred by recent evidence of a relationship between cheating in college and acts of dishonesty in the workplace and the fact that academic cheating appears to be more common among business school students, this Interactive Session was developed. The session will focus on two primary goals: first, to identify how new advances in technology are creating opportunities for cheating and, second, to develop an action plan to encourage academic honesty among students in schools of business.

The Influence of National Religious Consciousness on Entrepreneurial Behavior
International Business Research, 2017
Entrepreneurial behavior historically has been associated with economic development and the growt... more Entrepreneurial behavior historically has been associated with economic development and the growth of national economies. Similar to other complex behaviors, entrepreneurship is thought to be influenced by an individual’s goals, attitudes, and societal norms. While culture, particularly Hofstede's dimensions, and gender are common variables included in investigations of this topic, few studies have isolated the variable of religion, and its corresponding influence, into the analysis of entrepreneurial behavior. To explore the influence that a national religious consciousness (NRC) has on entrepreneurial behavior, this paper views the concept of NRC as both an antecedent and a component of the global variable of culture. It is proposed that NRC has a central role in shaping and defining entrepreneurial behavior, as well as influencing national culture and gender roles. A conceptual framework and deductive propositions are proposed to highlight the asymmetric roles between NRC, na...

For these culturally diverse teams, heterogeneity was defined by demographic (member age, length of team tenure, education level, functional expertise) and cultural characteristics (country of education, nationality, affiliation with a parent organization, and primary language spoken.) Overall, demographic heterogeneity most heavily influenced levels of trust, decision quality and decision implementation among team members. Cultural heterogeneity influenced the frequency of communication.

One of the uses of this interactive role-play case is to allow participants to utilize various economic and cultural models that typically result in conflict. A brief review of a partial list of economic models along with country examples is provided. Next, cultural orientations are explained, followed by the facilitators’ and participants’ guidelines.

However, most strategic plan content research focuses on the development of a written plan; little seems to be known about the planning processes of small firm owners and their management teams. This study examines what activities are included in the planning process and various aspects of the plan itself.
