
Pauline Oosterhoff
Pauline Oosterhoff is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies and Principal Investigator of Lost Souls, White Bowls, an AHRC-funded project on intimate partner femicide in Vietnam that brings together research, documentary film, and participatory ceramic installation.
For more than thirty years, she has worked on gender-based violence, coerced labour, migration, HIV, infectious disease, sexual and reproductive health and governance. She has worked in more than thirty countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe, with particular expertise in India, Nepal, Vietnam, and Togo.
Her work combines qualitative, quantitative, and participatory research with visual and performance-based research to produce relevant and intelligible findings that invite reflection and action. She is the founder of The Inquisitive Artist and teaches on femicide at the University of Amsterdam.
She holds a PhD in Medical Anthropology, an MA in Political Science, and a Master’s in International Public Health.
