The pandemic has changed the entire globe and caused such feelings in many of us. With this project, we created a series of monotypes based on the visual music When Leaving Becomes Arriving we produced before.

The quality of fecal DNA, however, can be degraded by wet or warm environmental conditions. We tested the effect of time of pellet collection (mid-March-mid-June) and temperature on the success of genotyping microsatellite loci in moose Alces alces by using DNA extracted from moose fecal pellets collected from north central British Columbia, Canada. Using the number of microsatellite loci genotyped as a measure of genotyping success clearly indicated that fecal pellets collected in March and April contained DNA that yielded high-confidence genotypes, whereas those collected in May and June did not. Pellets collected in March and April were more likely to be collected in cooler (often subzero) temperatures than those collected in May and June. Pellets collected later in the year were also more likely to be exposed to rain and increased solar radiation, all of which are likely to contribute to degradation of fecal DNA. Our findings suggest that pellets collected in late winter in the Northern Hemisphere have sufficient DNA to permit genotyping of moose.

In this project we attempt to add nuance-rich and personal looks to them using freehand style drawings generated as SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) by Python programming language. The algorithms are developed based on the findings of studying the hand drawing process in art creation. Methods of defining line stroke segments as drawing characteristics using formal grammar are explored, and stochastic turtle graphic interpretation is implemented.

Each image represents the crime status in one of the states, with the seven most significant crime-conviction statistics of each state embedded.

Using procedural modeling with Python programming and Maya API, an organic flow of intermingled geometrical units is formed to represent the profile of federal spending for each state, loosely resembling the idea of money flow. The total amount of spending is scaled to a per capita basis to make different states comparable, while the overall surface area or volume occupied by each type of geometrical pattern represents its associated spending data.

The title of the project, named from the music term agitato, depicts the restless agitated style of the music. Each image in this series is generated based on a musical passage from Nicolas Scherzinger's inter-sax-tive. For any given moment in time, spectrum of the music's frequencies is analyzed and used as the input to construct visual elements with various characteristics. As the music progress, the visual elements accumulate and are composed into a single image reflecting the music material within a defined duration of time, allowing viewers to perceive the movement of music from a single viewpoint, rather than as a linear experience of time.
