In particular, our software suite - Artelys Crystal - provides high-level optimization and mathematical programming tools with maximum user comfort.   • ⭐ In June, our colleagues Basak G. and Léo Quignon had the pleasure of joining the consortium partners at CERTH in Thessaloniki for the kick-off meeting of the Horizon Europe TWIN4CITIES project, officially launching an exciting 42-month adventure!   🙏 Bringing together more than 25 partners from across Europe, the project aims to develop AI-powered Local Digital Twins and innovative solutions that will help cities become climate-neutral, resilient, and sustainable.   🚀 As part of the consortium, Artelys will leverage its expertise and the Artelys Crystal software suite to assess the energy and carbon impacts of the solutions developed throughout the project. Our work will provide valuable insights into their effectiveness, paving the way for the replication of these solutions in other urban environments. Maxime Chammas

    It’s official: TWIN4CITIES has started its 42-month journey! 🚀 📍 On 3–4 June, the project officially kicked off in Thessaloniki, hosted by the Project Coordinator, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). The meeting brought together 26 partners from 9 European countries to align, exchange ideas, and set a strong foundation for the collaborative work ahead. ✨ TWIN4CITIES will develop AI-powered Local Digital Twins and intelligent urban solutions to support European cities in becoming more climate-neutral, resilient and sustainable, by realising pilots in Copenhagen, Zaragoza and Kozani.   • 🚀 Artelys Knitro 16.0 is out!   Two major new features for nonlinear optimization:   🔧 Nonlinear Modeler — Build nonlinear models natively in C, Python and AMPL with an intuitive expression-based API. Automatic first- and second-order derivatives, parallel evaluations, no callbacks required.   ⚡ Concurrent Solver — Run multiple barrier configurations in parallel, return the first optimal solution. On our pooling benchmark: 100% of instances solved and solution times reduced by 71%.   • 📢 La CRE vient de publier son nouveau rapport « Avenir des infrastructures gazières à 2050 – Rapport 2026 », une étape majeure dans le débat sur l’avenir des réseaux de gaz en France.   Le rapport confirme une réalité structurelle : à mesure que la consommation de gaz diminue, les coûts des réseaux baissent beaucoup plus lentement que les volumes acheminés et que le nombre de clients raccordés. Il en résulte un phénomène difficilement évitable de ciseau tarifaire, avec une hausse pouvant atteindre +3,5 % par an pour les clients du réseau de distribution dans le scénario de baisse des consommations le plus rapide.   Pour gérer cette transition de manière soutenable, la CRE préconise une approche de planification locale et multi-énergies, fondée sur des critères clairs permettant d’identifier les zones les plus propices à un retrait organisé du gaz.   💡 C’est précisément sur ces sujets que nous accompagnons les collectivités territoriales. Nous réalisons des analyses conjointes des réseaux de distribution d’électricité, de gaz et de chaleur afin de quantifier les impacts de différents scénarios prospectifs de transition énergétique et ainsi accompagner la concertation entre territoires et GRD pour permettre l’élaboration d’une planification robuste des réseaux de distribution.   Sur le volet gazier en particulier, nos travaux répondent directement aux questions soulevées par la CRE : 👉 Scénarisation de l’évolution locale de la demande et du nombre de clients 👉 Identification des zones les plus affectées par la sortie progressive du gaz 👉 Identification des zones nécessitant une présence pérenne du réseau pour l'injection du biométhane ou le maintien de l'activité industrielle 👉 Analyse locale de l'équilibre économique du réseau de distribution   🔑 À titre d’exemple, pour l’Eurométropole de Strasbourg, nous avons appliqué dès 2024 une méthodologie très proche de celle aujourd’hui recommandée par la CRE, afin d’identifier les secteurs les plus pertinents pour l'expérimentation d'un retrait local du réseau de gaz. Depuis, nous avons enrichi notre compréhension et nos outils d'analyse des réseaux de distribution en accompagnant Grenoble Alpes Métropole et le Syndicat Départemental d’Énergies de la Dordogne dans la réalisation de leur Schéma Directeur des Énergies.   En combinant une expertise approfondie du secteur énergétique et des outils d’aide à la décision quantitatifs, nous aidons les territoires à transformer les orientations nationales en plans d’action concrets et optimisés à l’échelle locale.   Comment votre organisation anticipe-t-elle l’avenir de ses réseaux de gaz, d’électricité et de chaleur ?     🚀 Artelys participated in the 4th General Assembly of the supremas.eu project in Zaragoza. 💡 This was the perfect opportunity to discuss recent progress with the project partners, as well as to present a prototyped version of a planning optimising tool developed by Artelys over the past few months. 💻 This proof-of-concept is a customised version of Artelys Crystal Super Grid which optimises the flows of biomass and syngas in a logistics network. Using a scenario based on an area around Porto – where the Freixo WWTP (one of the 2 pilot sites of SUPREMAS) is located – we demonstrated how a mobile biomass-to-syngas conversion unit can reduce costs for the overall system.   👉 Want to learn more about SUPREMAS: find all information on the website www.supremas.eu.   • 🔋 Artelys was invited to present at CEATI!   On June 18th, Paul Brunet, Louis-Pierre Campeau and Thibault Vignon delivered a BESS 101 - Introduction to Battery Energy Storage System - seminar covering key definitions and technical features such as revenue stacking, co-location (pairing BESS with other assets in physical proximity) and current market trends.
