🍷 We have exciting news to share! Matthew Clark Bibendum is now the exclusive UK partner for the iconic Susana Balbo. To celebrate the beginning of this exciting partnership, our teams had the pleasure of sitting down with Susana Balbo - Argentina’s first female winemaker and the internationally acclaimed 'Queen of Torrontés' - to discuss her pioneering journey, the family’s winemaking philosophy, sustainability, and what’s next for one of Argentina’s most influential wineries. Based in Agrelo, Mendoza, Susana Balbo has redefined Argentina’s white wines on the world stage through unwavering commitment to quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and a constant drive to innovate. Today, the family-owned winery continues to be shaped by the next generation, with José and Ana Lovaglio Balbo carrying forward its pioneering vision. Commenting on the partnership, Susana said: “We are very excited to begin this new chapter with Matthew Clark Bibendum. The UK holds a very special place in my heart, as it was the first market we exported to when I founded the winery. For more than 26 years, we have maintained a continuous presence there, and I am deeply grateful to UK consumers for their continued support and for choosing our wines to share with friends and loved ones.” Simon Jerrome, Senior Wine Buyer at MCB, said: “Susana and her family are producing some of the most exciting wines from Argentina, particularly those in the Susana Balbo Signature range, including the Barrel Fermented Torrontés, a grape variety championed for many years by Susana herself. These wines already have many supporters in the trade, and we look forward to converting many more to these fantastic wines. I’m delighted to welcome Susana Balbo to our portfolio.” ❤️ We're incredibly proud to represent one of Argentina's most respected wineries and we look forward to bringing the full Susana Balbo portfolio to consumers across the UK. • Introducing: @AngasandBremer from Langhorne Creek in South Australia. The winery sits between two rivers, Angas and Bremer, giving its namesake. These rivers are the lifeblood of the winery and have shaped the land for centuries, nourishing the soils and carving out unique terroir for exceptional wines. • What do you know of the southern-most region of Cote-des-Bar in Champagne, Les Riceys? Once part of Burgundy, Les Riceys is closer to Chablis than Rieims or Epernay. And walking among the vines you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the rolling hills of Burgundy. Surrounded by dense forest, these hillsides emerged during the Jurassic period, meaning they share the same Kimmeridgian subsoil as Chablis – a remarkable point of difference to the Champagnes from this region. It is also the only Champagne AOC which permits the production of still rosé. @domainealexandrebonnet produces both traditional Champagne and still rosé, as one of the largest Grower Champagne houses in the region. With its proximity to Burgundy, Pinot Noir reigns supreme and it is certainly at the heart of Domaine Alexandre Bonnet. Talk to your Account Manager today to try the brand-new range.

  • After an educational trip to Rioja, our Wine Educator Matt Correal, was most taken by the white wines coming out of the region. Turns out his palate was onto something… white Rioja wines are on the rise! As global consumption generally turns away from red wines, native white varieties from the region are having a resurgence in planting and popularity. In the latest Fine Lees, Matt dives into this evolution, uncovering the strategic planning behind the movement and the varieties to look out for. • The name “Corpinnat” is derived from the Catalan phrase meaning “born in the heart of Penedes”. In the wine world, it refers to the movement of elite producers who banded together in 2018 to redefine standards of Spanish sparkling wine – it represents a commitment to authenticity, quality and sustainability. Sabate i Coca is one of the original 12 members of this movement, which has since grown to encompass 19 wineries. As a Corpinnat producer, 100% of their grapes are organic and hand-harvested, all vinification takes place on the estate, and wines are aged for a minimum of 18 months – although many of their wines exceed this benchmark. Discover the wines of Sabate I Coca now on Bibendum Wine Online.

  • A new orange wine has landed from Spy Valley. Made from 100% Pinot Gris from the single ‘C Block’ vineyard, the wine is a precise expression of its rugged terroir. Floral and aromatic with subtle spice and a gentle tannic grip, this wine can handle more challenging food pairings for dishes with bolder flavours. Did you have a chance to taste this wine at the recent Australia & New Zealand Trade Tasting with Tony from Spy Valley?
