Market confidence and a thriving economy depend on a safe and secure City. The Square Mile powers the UK economy, supporting 676,000 workers and 24,000 businesses, generating £109 billion in output, and £1.3 billion in business rates, and a major share of the FPS sectors’ £110 billion annual tax revenue. Last year, City Police supported 170,000 fraud victims. Thanks to City of London Police for keeping the City safe and leading the national fight against fraud. #SaferCityStreets

📈 This evening, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP, returned for her third Mansion House speech. The Chancellor set-out the government's economic progress, focusing on actions to drive growth and unlock investment across the United Kingdom. She also announced a new SME lending package and outlined her plan on AI sovereignty, backing UK companies to win at critical positions in the AI stack, through a Sovereign AI unit, the advanced market commitment to quantum, an AI hardware plan, and through the new AI Economics Institute (Full speech: https://lnkd.in/e_KNNvYK) 🏦 The Governor of the Bank of England also explained that well-designed regulation can support sustainable economic growth by enabling innovation and protecting financial stability.
