Over the last 20 years, I've seen technology change beyond recognition. Frameworks evolve. Platforms come and go. AI is reshaping what's possible almost daily. But one thing hasn't changed. The best software has never started with the technology. It starts with understanding the problem. As part of our Bluebox Team Spotlight series, we're proud to introduce Simon Chrzanowski, Managing Director. For Simon, the best software doesn't start with technology. It starts with trust. One project that stands out is Monitrr, a global motor manufacturing remote auditing platform that grew from a simple conversation and a strong client relationship. After successfully delivering a smaller application, discussions with the Outsorc team turned to a bigger challenge. Existing solutions weren't meeting their needs and were limiting their ability to deliver the service they wanted. The question became: "Could we build something better ourselves?" What followed was an ambitious development journey that transformed an idea into a globally adopted platform. Seeing Monitrr scale successfully and create real impact for the client remains one of Simon's proudest achievements. When it comes to legacy systems, Simon believes there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The best solutions come from understanding the bigger picture,  balancing business objectives, commercial realities, existing technology, and future ambitions. At Bluebox, that often means combining bespoke software, off-the-shelf solutions, and API integrations to create the right roadmap for growth. One of the biggest misconceptions about bespoke software? That the technology itself is the hardest part. In reality, successful projects are built on people. Getting teams involved early, embracing change, and creating a shared vision are often the factors that determine long-term success. And Simon's superpower? Not being a developer. His role is translating business challenges into technology solutions without hiding behind technical jargon. "Clients don't need to understand the finer points of the technology. One project he's particularly proud of involved video transcoding, enabling high-quality video content to be delivered efficiently across a wide range of devices. By converting video into adaptive streaming formats, users could enjoy the best possible viewing experience whether they were watching on a mobile phone, tablet, or a 4K display.  "The goal is making sure the technology adapts to the user, not the other way around." When it comes to legacy systems, Andy believes evolution is often the smartest path forward. As frameworks, architectures, and technologies continue to advance, software needs to evolve alongside them, allowing businesses to modernise without unnecessary disruption. One common misconception about bespoke software? That developers can do everything without input from the business. The best software is built through collaboration, with clients helping shape the business logic and real-world processes that make a solution successful. And Andy's developer superpower?
