Infrastructure professionals face a complex risk landscape. Resilience science provides answers to these challenges. Now there is an accessible way to learn about resilience thinking for infrastructure based on decades of resilience research. At the Resilience Hub's day at London Climate Action Week, a new course series was launched: Resilience Science for Infrastructure. The course is designed as a self-paced, e-learning resource for infrastructure professionals, and cities and landscape planners and decision-makers. The courses are based on the Resilience Science Must-Knows, a global initiative that synthesises decades of resilience research into nine actionable insights. The first course, Resilient infrastructure: Navigating shocks and stresses in a shifting risk landscape, is now available. It's open access and anyone can enroll. I’ve been positively impressed so far by the increase in climate adaptation and resilience content at London Climate Action Week this year. And, with London experiencing unusually high temperatures this week, it has felt like a timely reminder of the need to take adaptive actions. I had the opportunity to join the panel at the Resilience Hub Investor Forum, co-hosted by the Global Resilience Partnership and the COP Resilience Hub, where I joined fellow investors in providing feedback to a group of impressive resilience innovators. The solutions ranged from AI-powered early warning systems in Sudan and the Philippines, to community-led conservation finance in Kenya, climate-resilient healthcare in Nigeria, agroforestry and carbon market access for smallholder farmers, and low-carbon disaster-resilient housing in Nepal. One lesson stood out across the discussions was the importance of a clear payer logic. While the impact case for resilience solutions is often compelling, the commercial pathway can be less obvious. Investors are increasingly looking for founders who can clearly identify who ultimately pays for the value being created, whether that is governments, donors, corporates, insurers, or end beneficiaries.
