  • Saylor just drew the clearest line on what Bitcoin should, and shouldn't, be. As BIP-110 divides the community over non-financial data on Bitcoin's blockchain, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder says: don't touch the base layer.

  • Armstrong just told the market: Coinbase doesn't need the CLARITY Act to survive. With COIN down 62% from its highs and the bill at 30% passage odds, that's either confidence or damage control. The market's verdict comes in the after-hours session.

  • On July 30, 2026, an attacker drained $38.3 million in Bitcoin from 500 hardware wallets in under 25 minutes. The vulnerability had been hiding in Coldcard firmware since March 2021, five years, undetected, on one of the most widely trusted Bitcoin hardware wallets in existence. The root cause: a broken random number generator that produced seed phrases with far less entropy than expected, making private keys reconstructable from publicly available chip data. Three things every crypto security professional and self-custody holder needs to understand from this incident: 1. Single-signature wallets are the highest-risk setup. Every one of the 500 drained wallets was single-signature. Not one was multisig. 2. A BIP-39 passphrase would have prevented this. Users who added one faced substantially lower risk, even with vulnerable hardware. This is the cheapest layer of security in Bitcoin and the most consistently underused. 3. If you exported a vulnerable Coldcard seed to another wallet, you are still at risk. The vulnerability follows the seed, not the device. The broader lesson is not that hardware wallets are broken. They remain the best available tool for self-custody. The lesson is that single-vendor, single-signature, no-passphrase setups are a single point of failure, and this week proved exactly what that means in practice. Affected models: Coldcard Mk3 firmware 4.0.1–5.0.3. Partial risk on Mk4, Q, Mk5 before version 5.6.0 / 1.5.0Q. Tapsigner, Opendime, and Satscard are unaffected. Swipe through for the full breakdown, including the exact steps to check your exposure and migrate safely. #Bitcoin #CryptoSecurity #SelfCustody #HardwareWallet #Coldcard #DigitalAssets #BlockchainSecurity #Crypto

  • An AI model just found a flaw in a government-backed cryptography candidate. Anthropic says its unreleased Claude Mythos Preview discovered a working attack against HAWK-256, a post-quantum signature scheme, after ~60 hours of autonomous research using ~$100,000 in compute. What's interesting wasn't the vulnerability, but how it was found. The AI independently reviewed research, tested hypotheses, and uncovered a flaw that had gone unnoticed for 2 years. Bitcoin isn't affected today. But as AI accelerates cryptanalysis, the race to upgrade cryptography before quantum computing arrives just became a lot more urgent. • Solana's memecoin frenzy is back. Memecoins now account for 29% of Solana's DEX volume, up from 10–15% just weeks ago, as the ANSEM token surged 18,000% to a $449M market cap. But beneath the hype, something bigger is happening. • $15B in stablecoins now sit on Solana • $4.8B comes from issuers beyond USDC and USDT • 2,582 tokenized real-world assets now live on-chain, the most of any blockchain The meme cycle may be back. But Solana's long-term growth is increasingly being driven by stablecoins, RWAs, and institutional settlement.
