Having control over your own energy just makes sense. @Beth Redfern, our Head of Transformation recently had solar panels installed at her home and shared why taking this step matters to her family. For her, it’s not only about lowering bills. It’s about independence, resilience, and taking charge of her energy future.

Ensuring our people are able to meet the real cost of living is essential to ensuring the wellbeing of our people is always met. This voluntary initiative is something we will continue to be part of, particularly as the cost of living is having such a profound impact on a lot of people. There’s something about the vintage texture that reminds us just how long solar has been part of human innovation. The story goes way back from early experiments with sunlight in the 1800s, to Alexandre‑Edmond Becquerel discovering the photoelectric effect, to Augustin Mouchot building one of the first solar‑powered machines. What started as scientific curiosity is now powering homes across the UK. A little history, wrapped in a modern install.

The cost of energy is climbing, and people across the UK are feeling it. Our CEO, Nigel Pocklington, joined LBC News to outline the actions that can ease pressure on households and start fixing a system that isn’t working. With our recommendations, government can lower bills and deliver real relief.

Growth in renewables isn't just about building more wind farms. It's about making sure more of that clean power reaches the homes and businesses that need it. That's why we're pleased to announce the largest energy supply agreement in our 26-year history. We've signed a new two-year Power Purchase Agreement with Ørsted to source renewable electricity from the Walney 1 and Walney 2 offshore wind farms. From October 2026, the agreement will provide 200 GWh of UK-generated renewable electricity every year. Over the full two-year term, that's 400 GWh of renewable electricity - enough to power more than 74,000 UK homes annually. For us, this isn't just a bigger contract. It represents the next stage in how we're growing. For more than two decades we've worked with thousands of independent renewable generators across Britain, helping connect locally generated clean electricity with the people who use it. As demand for renewable electricity continues to grow, we're complementing that model with larger, long-term agreements that provide greater scale and certainty while continuing to back British renewable generation. This increased supply means we can support more households with home-grown renewable electricity, while also helping larger energy users - including data centres and other growing industries - access reliable renewable power as they decarbonise. Our relationship with Ørsted has continued to grow over several years, and we're delighted to build on that partnership with our biggest agreement to date. The UK's transition to a cleaner energy system depends on strong collaboration across the sector. We're proud that this agreement helps strengthen the renewable energy available today while supporting the next phase of Good Energy's growth. Read more via the link in the comments.
