Shaping the future of mobile connectivity together

About us

The GSMA is a global organisation unifying the mobile ecosystem to discover, develop and deliver innovation foundational to positive business environments and societal change. Our vision is to unlock the full power of connectivity so that people, industry and society thrive. We operate through three main pillars: ✔️ Connectivity for Good engages members, governments and civil society, to advance positive policy and spectrum outcomes, facilitate digital innovation to reduce inequalities in our world, and tackle today’s biggest societal challenges such as digital inclusion, climate change and sustainability. ✔️ Industry Solutions supports the technology and interoperability that make mobile work. For instance, we assist the industry’s development in areas such as 5G, Mobile IoT, fraud and security, through our projects, working groups and other collaborative activities. ✔️ Our events provide successful ways of bringing the ecosystem and adjacent industries together, to make strong business connections and drive positive impact. From the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event, MWC, in Barcelona, Shanghai, Las Vegas, Kigali & Doha, to the growing M360 series that has a more regional focus.

📊Evidence. 💰Policy.💡Investment. All three must align.✅ Writing at the mid-year point, GSMA Foundation President John Giusti reflects on where the Connectivity for Refugees initiative stands and what it will take to reach 20 million forcibly displaced people by 2030. The priorities are clear: ✅ Turn evidence into concrete #policy reform where barriers remain highest ✅ Develop sustainable partnerships with #MNOs ✅ Deepen multi-stakeholder collaboration so #connectivity for #refugees is treated as core infrastructure, not an afterthought In #Kenya, detailed evidence helped unlock regulatory reform for refugee SIM registration. In #Chad, Airtel Africa and Moov Africa are extending infrastructure despite challenging operating environments. In #SouthSudan, new connectivity assessments are informing government and industry planning. This work only succeeds when #humanitarian agencies, governments and industry sit together in the same room, year after year. 👉 Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/edEEQ5wB #UKAid #Sida #M4H International Telecommunication Union UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency

In 2019, the mobile industry made a defining commitment: to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. A goal requiring sector-wide action and cross-sector collaboration. Ambitious but possible. Since then, the #GSMA has released an annual update on the industry's progress - Mobile Net Zero - the most comprehensive analysis of the sector’s energy and emissions trends. This sixth edition represents a midpoint between the original commitment in 2019 and the critical 2030 milestone. In just over half a decade, the context within which we strive for net zero is almost unrecognisable. A pandemic skyrocketed digital demand. #AI is on the scene. The largest oil supply disruption in history has triggered a global energy crisis. Our latest 'Mobile Net Zero' touches upon it all. On 21st July join us live for this year's updates. Hear key figures directly from the head of #GSMA's Climate Action Programme Steven Moore and Director of Climate Insights George Kamiya . Discover how operators, suppliers and governments can take action. And learn why in a time of growing uncertainty, net zero is not a risk, but a source of stability. Register now!
