Human support that keeps trials moving

About us

Innovative Trials was built around a simple belief — patient recruitment works better when people feel supported. For more than 16 years, we’ve worked alongside study teams who are juggling a lot. Pressure to deliver recruitment targets. Concerns around retention. Internal questions about bringing in another vendor. Worries about compliance, site relationships, and whether support will actually continue once the contract is signed. We get it, because we’ve heard it all before. That’s why we focus on feeling like an extension of your team rather than an outside supplier. We work closely with sponsors, CROs, and sites to make the process feel straightforward, collaborative, and genuinely helpful from day one. Our support spans three key areas: patient recruitment and retention materials that people actually engage with, hands-on 1:1 site support and coaching, and our global Patient Support Center, in-country support across 70+ countries and in more than 120 languages. What matters most to us is keeping the human side of clinical trials alive. Patients need reassurance. Sites need support. Study teams need partners they can trust to just get on with it. As one of the few specialist patient recruitment companies that’s still privately owned, we’re able to stay flexible, responsive, and focused on doing what’s right for our clients and patients — not what looks best on a board report. Clinical trials are complicated enough. Working with your recruitment partner shouldn’t be. For more information about what we do at Innovative Trials, visit: www.innnovativetrials.com

  • Recruitment isn't just about finding patients, It's about supporting the people who make the decision to take part. In human clinical trials, that might be a patient, a parent, or a caregiver. In animal health studies, it's the owner. They're the ones asking questions, they're weighing up the benefits and risks, they're fitting study visits around work, family, and everyday life, they're deciding whether participation feels right. That's why successful recruitment has never been about simply identifying eligible participants. It's about building trust. Providing clear, accessible information. Making people feel supported—not sold to. Because when people understand what's involved, they're far more likely to enrol... and to stay engaged throughout the study. Whether the patient walks on two legs or four, the decision always starts with a person. And that's where great recruitment begins. #ClinicalResearch #AnimalHealth #VeterinaryResearch #ClinicalTrials #PatientRecruitment #ResearchOperations #StudyRecruitment #PatientCentricity

  • CRISPR for children - what this means for paediatric trial recruitment Something remarkable happened on July 1st. The FDA approved the world's first CRISPR-based gene therapy - Casgevy - for children as young as two years old with sickle cell disease. The previous lower age limit was twelve. For families who have watched their child suffer through pain crises, hospital admissions, and the accumulating damage of a disease that starts from infancy - this is genuinely life-changing news. But it also raises something the clinical trials community needs to sit with. Casgevy offers the prospect of a functional cure in a disease that causes lifelong suffering beginning in infancy. Yet reaching and retaining the families who need it most - in communities disproportionately affected by sickle cell, many of them already underserved by healthcare systems - requires more than a label expansion. It requires trust. It requires culturally fluent, multilingual support. It requires someone who can help a parent understand what a one-time gene therapy actually means for their two-year-old, in plain language, without pressure. Science moves fast. Human support has to keep up. #SickleCellDisease #CRISPR #GeneTherapy #PaediatricTrials #ClinicalResearch #PatientSupport #InnovativeTrials #HealthEquity

  • What sponsors actually lose when a patient withdraws When a patient withdraws from a clinical trial, the instinct is to reach for a replacement. Another screen. Another referral. Another enrolment. But replacement isn't recovery. The patient who withdraws in month four of a twelve-month study takes with them four months of protocol adherence, four months of data integrity, and four months of relationship between themselves and the site. You can't backfill that. More than that, they take something harder to quantify: the trust they extended when they signed the consent form. The willingness to be part of something that felt important. That trust, once lost, rarely comes back - and word travels. Retention isn't a contingency plan. It's the strategy. We'd always rather put the resource into keeping the patient who's already there than finding a new one. And in our experience, that's almost always the more efficient choice - as well as the more human one. #ClinicalTrials #PatientRetention #ClinicalOperations #PatientRecruitment #InnovativeTrials #ClinicalResearch #LifeSciences

  • Today is World Brain Day. This year's focus is brain health for all - access, equity, and the global burden of neurological conditions that affect hundreds of millions of people. For the clinical trials industry, it's a timely prompt. Neurological studies are some of the most complex to recruit for - and some of the hardest to retain patients in. Cognitive conditions affect memory, communication, and decision-making capacity. Carers become central to the trial journey in ways that aren't always planned for. And the emotional weight on families is significant. Supporting a patient with a neurological condition through a clinical trial isn't just a logistics exercise. It's a relationship - one that requires consistency, patience, and someone who genuinely understands the patient's changing circumstances over time. Our Navigators and Clinical Enrolment Managers work across therapeutic areas including neuroscience. The support model adapts to the patient - not the other way around. On World Brain Day, that feels worth saying. #WorldBrainDay #Neuroscience #ClinicalTrials #PatientSupport #Navigator #InnovativeTrials #BrainHealth #PatientRetention

  • 🎒📚 The countdown is officially on... We're heading to the 20th anniversary of the Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) Global Site Solutions Summit with something we've been building for a long time. Something designed to support not just one part of our industry—but the entire clinical research community. The Innovative Trials Academy is almost here. For now, we're keeping most of it under wraps... 👀 The full launch is coming closer to the SCRS Summit, where we'll be sharing exclusive first looks, behind-the-scenes insights, and the thinking behind why we believe education has the power to transform how our industry works together. If you're joining us in Orlando, you'll be among the first to see what's coming. Alongside the Academy, we'll also be showcasing the complete Innovative Trials solution—from patient recruitment and study materials to site support and patient navigation—helping studies recruit smarter, retain better, and deliver successful clinical trials. But as always, one of the most important reasons we're attending isn't to talk... It's to listen. Every year, the conversations we have with research sites shape the future of our business. We want to understand what's working, where the challenges are, and what support you need next. Those discussions help ensure everything we develop—from our services to the Academy—remains practical, relevant and genuinely valuable. So if you see Kate Shaw, CEO, and Eloise Moffett, VP of Commercial, come and say hello. We'd love to hear your ideas, your challenges, and your vision for the future of clinical research. 📍 Global Site Solutions Summit 2026 📅 15–18 October | Orlando, FL The countdown has begun... and trust us, you'll want a front-row seat for what's coming next. #SiteSolutionsSummit #SCRS #InnovativeTrialsAcademy #ClinicalResearch #ClinicalTrials #PatientRecruitment #PatientRetention #SiteSupport #ClinicalOperations #LifeSciences #Innovation #GlobalEducation

  • A little while ago, we shared a teaser of two little girls playing together in a sandbox and asked if anyone knew who they were. Well... here's the answer. Two of your favourite companies. One complete patient journey. For years, the industry has assumed that delivering an end-to-end patient solution meant acquisitions, mergers, or trying to become everything to everyone. We believe there's a better way. From today, Innovative Trials and mdgroup are collaborating to bring together complementary expertise to support patients from recruitment through to study completion - while each continuing to do what we do best. Sponsors and CROs can now access a truly global patient journey through either organisation, including: • Patient Travel • Decentralised Clinical Trial (DCT) Services, including Home Health • Patient Payments • Educational Materials • Site Support & Coaching • Global Patient Support Center All delivered with one shared philosophy: Keep trials human. Two specialist teams. One seamless patient journey. One shared goal: making it easier for patients to participate in clinical research, wherever they are in the world. You can hear more on their LinkedIn Live https://lnkd.in/ejJcQ73W Because improving the patient experience isn't about offering more services. It's about connecting the right ones, in the right way, around the people who matter most. and if you hadn't guessed, it was Eloise Moffett and LaQuinta Jernigan playing in the sandbox...... aren't they just the cutest (as kids 🤣) #ClinicalTrials #PatientCentricity #PatientRecruitment #PatientRetention #DCT #ClinicalResearch #HomeHealth #PatientTravel #InnovativeTrials #mdgroup

  • Everyone talks about recruitment. Not enough people talk about what happens after a patient says yes, because enrolling a patient is only the beginning. Life doesn't stop because someone joins a clinical trial. Mental health, family commitments, work, transport, uncertainty... they're all still there. And that's often where patients need support the most. Our Navigator team exists for exactly that reason, Real people, Real conversations, Real support between site visits. The results speak for themselves. 📊 Study 1 Patients without Navigator support were 28% more likely to leave the study early. 📊 Study 2 Patients without Navigator support were 2x more likely to discontinue. These aren't reminders or automated messages. They're meaningful conversations with trained Navigators who understand the patient journey, answer questions, provide reassurance, and help people stay engaged when it matters most. A huge thank you to the sponsors of these studies for recognising that patient support doesn't end at randomisation. Investing in services that genuinely support participants throughout their trial journey isn't just good for retention—it creates a better experience for every patient who chooses to take part in research. Clinical research moves forward because patients choose to participate. Supporting them throughout that journey is one of the most valuable investments a sponsor can make. #ClinicalTrials #PatientEngagement #PatientRetention #ClinicalResearch #PatientCentricity #PatientSupport #ClinicalOperations #InnovativeTrials

  • Human and animal trials have more in common than people think. At first glance, they seem like completely different worlds. Different patients. Different sites. Different regulations, but when it comes to recruitment, many of the challenges are surprisingly familiar. 🐴 🙍 Finding the right participants. 🏥 Helping sites stay engaged. 📖 Creating clear, accessible educational materials. 🧑🌾 🧕 Supporting the people making the decision to take part. 💜 Keeping participants committed throughout the study. Whether you're speaking to a patient or a pet owner, trust matters. Communication matters. Support matters. Successful recruitment has never been just about finding eligible participants. It's about helping people feel informed, confident, and supported every step of the way. Sometimes, the biggest similarities aren't found in the science—they're found in the human decisions that make research possible. #ClinicalResearch #AnimalHealth #VeterinaryResearch #PatientRecruitment #ClinicalTrials #Research #Innovation

  • They completed every visit. Every questionnaire. Every diary. Every assessment. On paper, they were the perfect participant. What nobody knew was that they hadn't slept properly in weeks. Every hospital visit filled them with anxiety. They were struggling emotionally... and they never told anyone, because they didn't feel they could. In clinical research, we spend a lot of time measuring compliance. But compliance isn't the same as coping. Mental health isn't only relevant when it's the therapeutic area. It's relevant in every study, because every participant is a person first. This month's People Before Protocols explores one of the quietest challenges in clinical research: the silence we often mistake for success. It asks a simple question that every sponsor, CRO and site should consider: If a participant in your study was struggling emotionally... would they actually tell you? Not because they were asked to complete another questionnaire. But because they felt safe enough to have an honest conversation. At Innovative Trials, we believe participant support shouldn't begin and end with protocol requirements. The human experience between study visits matters just as much as the data collected during them. 📖 People Before Protocols | Edition 4: Mental Health is now available. We'd love to hear your perspective. What more can our industry do to create psychological safety for participants throughout a clinical trial? #PeopleBeforeProtocols #ClinicalTrials #PatientCentricity #MentalHealth #ClinicalResearch #PatientExperience #ParticipantRetention #ClinicalOperations #InnovationInResearch #InnovativeTrials
