A week on from finishing the Cambridge Judge Business School General Management Programme, and I'm still processing how much I took from it. I came to Cambridge looking for a structured way to close the gap between "I understand the science" and "I can build and run a company around it." I left with exactly that, a real framework for thinking about strategy, people, and decision-making. Being there to do that, at a university with that much history, surrounded by people operating at that level, was impressive. It's not easy to get the place, the people and the timing all to line up with exactly what you need, and this was one. Every session pulled its weight, somehow the professors made those genuinely engaging, even the finance and accounting ones 😁, which ended up among the ones I think about most. The part that surprised me most was the simplest, the guided reflections at the start and end of each day with Shasha Lu, which made the learning actually stick. Doing this alongside our CEO, Robert Graham, made it count twice over. We walk out as co-founders aligned on exactly where we're taking Kelvin Quantum from here. A big thank you to Shasha Lu, Vernon Brown, Brett Hunter, Hannah Fidgett and Lois Turrell for the design and depth behind the whole two weeks and the seamless organisation behind the scenes. Nothing ran less than perfectly. And of course to my GMP#33 classmates! I learned something from every one of you. You were an excellent group to do this with! Anastasia (Annie) T., Phil Morris, Randy Hitti, Victoria Wiggins, Jaber AlMosallam, Fumitaka Yanagisawa, Ramesh Sadasivam, Susanna Siu-sze Yeung, Fahad Al-Rabiah, Robert Graham. PS Special mention to Tony, who convinced us that 6 am exercise was a good idea, and somehow had us coming back for more.

Less than one month to go until the 2nd 'Emerging Quantum Technologies Summer School' - led by Dr. Stavroula Kapoulea and Dr. Ioanna Kriekouki - kicks off here in Glasgow! Based on this week, the weather might be just as good as last year's inaugural Summer School, which happened over in Greece - so bring your curiosity, your insightful questions, and a swimsuit! (In any eventuality, the Glasgow Westerwood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort where everything takes place, has an indoor swimming pool). 😎 🏊 🌞 For our amazing lineup of speakers, take a look below. Register, if you haven't already, at: https://lnkd.in/eu4Ai65d and don't forget to register early for discounted accommodation. Over the past two weeks I’ve had the genuine privilege of attending the Cambridge Judge Business School’s General Management Program. Alongside Stavroula Kapoulea and a fantastic cohort of friends from across the world in a variety of industries we completed what was an intense ‘mini MBA’ - covering topics from #strategy, #teamwork, #leadership, #finance & #accounting to #AI, modern day #macroeconomics and international trends and concerns. We decided to take part in the GMP from University of Cambridge to really provide ourselves a solid base in management; as a team who are moving from academic backgrounds into industry we saw educating ourselves as critical to making what we’re doing at Kelvin Quantum as impactful as possible and doing right by our team and those that partner with us. For this Cambridge with its history of #semiconductor design and large buisness experience in the sector seemed the best choice and certainly didn’t dissappont. #SiliconFen Many thanks to the brilliant leadership staff at the GMP and all those speakers throughout who held such a high bar in quality and support!

🚀 Got a breakthrough idea? Learn how to turn it into a business. One of the highlights of this year's Emerging Quantum Technologies Summer School 2026 is the "Commercialise Your Research" session — and the speaker lineup couldn't be more fitting. We're bringing together three founders and innovators who've done exactly that: taken deep quantum expertise out of the lab and built companies around it. ⚛️ Dr Luca Planat — Silent Waves ⚛️ Dr Robert Graham — Kelvin Quantum ⚛️ Dr Jack Brennan — Quantcore These are people who've navigated the gap between academic research and real-world impact. Come ask them how. Whether you're a PhD student wondering what comes next, a postdoc exploring your options, or a researcher curious about the startup world — this session is for you. 📅 June 25–26, 2026 📍 Glasgow Westerwood Hotel, Scotland, UK 👉 Register here: https://lnkd.in/gkXTah6d #QuantumTechnology #DeepTech #Commercialisation #StartUp #SummerSchool #QuantumComputing #Glasgow #ResearchToMarket #EQT2026

Last week Kelvin Quantum graduated from the #ChipStartUK program at The Royal Institution. The accelerator run by Silicon Catalyst.UK and funded by the UK Government: Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. The ChipStart program partnered with semiconductor giants such as Arm, GlobalFoundries and Cadence, focused on providing training, support and access to #semiconductor infrastructure and software throughout the year for UK semiconductor focused startups. Having such a strong base of connections, R&D capability and insight into semiconductor design and manufacturing was incredibly rewarding in Kelvin Quantum's goal of delivering ultra-cold CMOS-based systems to unlock scalability in #Quantum technologies. After a great year we would like to thank our expert mentor Richard Ord along with the Silicon Catalyst.UK team for their support and guidance! Ross Addinall Russell Haggar Sylvia Lu Mike S. Hear from Dr Robert Graham as he shares the pivotal moment in his commercialisation journey with Kelvin Quantum, in a segment from The Science Show with Dr Dada, filmed live at the EPSRC IAA Impact Festival 🎥
The "Wow, this could be a business" moment? It clicked when the prototype worked at the really low temperatures we wanted. That success, achieved right at the end of the EPSRC IAA project sparked the move toward commercialization--The IAA funding proved to be a great opportunity! #Innovation #Commercialization #Science #Technology
