What does luxury mean now that exclusivity alone no longer defines it? In our latest interview, James White, Co-Founder of MAWD | March and White Design, makes the case that authenticity has replaced opulence as the true marker of high-end design. Since co-founding MAWD with Elliot March in 2010, James has helped guide the studio's growth across some of the industry's most demanding sectors, from The Shard Residences and Mandarin Oriental Residences to the superyacht Al Lusail and private members' clubs including the Arts Club and The Crown in Kuwait. In conversation, he discusses how MAWD's founding principle- storytelling over house style- has scaled across geographies and sectors, why space planning is the detail clients notice least but feel most, how AI and digital visualisation are changing the studio's workflow without displacing creativity, and why he believes the next decade of design will be defined by experience rather than aesthetics. James now leads MAWD's expansion into the Middle East, splitting his time between Dubai and the UK. We were delighted to join fellow practices Bergman Design House, Darling Associates Architects, OBM International and Rosendale Design for ArchichefNight London, an inspiring event organised by TOWANT that celebrates architecture through the language of food. For the evening, MAWD presented Carciofo Marchese, a dish inspired by our Roman-influenced living room created for Artemest's L'Appartamento during Milan Design Week. A huge thank you to TOWANT, Osteria by Bocconcino Restaurants and all the sponsors and partners involved for bringing together such a memorable evening of creativity, collaboration and conversation. Introducing Edgeworth, West Palm Beach, a new ultra-luxury waterfront development where architecture and interiors move as one continuous gesture. Inspired by the natural rhythms of the Atlantic coastline, the building's sculptural form translates movement, curvature, and light into architecture. MAWD extended this narrative throughout the interiors, carrying the softened geometries of the towers into every space through curved forms, layered textures, and a palette informed by sand, stone, and sea. Designed to enhance the experience of waterfront living, each residence balances contemporary elegance with a relaxed Riviera-inspired sensibility, framed by sweeping ocean views and generous private balconies. #MAWD #Edgeworth #WestPalmBeach #LuxuryResidential #InteriorDesign #Architecture

An incredible project to have been part of and one that remains a defining moment in MAWD's journey. We were honoured to design the interiors for AL LUSAIL, creating spaces that balance timeless elegance with a strong connection to the sea through light, openness and craftsmanship.
Fresh from a seven-month refit at Lürssen, the 123m AL LUSAIL is ready for her summer season on the water. Nearly a decade after her launch, the yacht continues to stand apart thanks to her distinctive design by H2 Yacht Design and contemporary interiors by MAWD | March and White Design. Expansive glass façades remain a defining feature, creating panoramic views and a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces.

This week we officially launched Fulton Bond in Chicago. The quality the residences and shared spaces to the overall level of design and detail, Fulton Bond introduces a new benchmark for the quality. of condominium living in the West Loop. Designed as an extension of the architecture, the sales gallery offers a first glimpse into the character of the project, introducing the scale, materiality, and attention to detail that will define the living experience throughout the building. The MAWD team was in Chicago for the opening of the sales gallery by KPF. The space brings the language of the building into an interior setting, using proportion, material, and detail to establish the character of the residences from the outset. Elliot March joined industry peers at Hospitality Design | HD Expo this year to discuss the future of hospitality and the growing importance of experience-led environments. At MAWD our approach to hospitality design is shaped through the careful orchestration of atmosphere, where elements such as lighting, scent, materiality, and spatial rhythm work together to influence how an environment is experienced. As the sector evolves, we see a shift toward hospitality environments shaped not only by aesthetics, but by the details that influence how a place is experienced, remembered, and returned to.
