We protect and support the professional interests of more than 300,000 members around the world. Membership provides access to expert advice and support together with the right to request indemnity for any complaints or claims arising from professional practice. Our in-house experts assist with the wide range of legal and ethical problems that arise from professional practice. This can include clinical negligence claims, complaints, medical and dental council inquiries, legal and ethical dilemmas, disciplinary procedures, inquests and fatal accident inquiries. Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place. We do this by promoting risk management through our workshops, E-learning, clinical risk assessments, publications, conferences, lectures and presentations. MPS is not an insurance company. In-depth discussions today at the The Royal College of Radiologists Global AI conference. Starting off with my presentation on ‘Are clinicians at risk of becoming AI liability sinks for AI-driven decisions?’. It was a pleasure to present alongside Dr Amrita Kumar , Dr. Anjum M. Ahmed (MBBS, MBA, MIS) and Prof Fiona Gilbert, with some great audience questions on liability, training and trusting AI. Many clinicians popping in to see us at the Medical Protection Society stand asking searching questions on AI regulation, monitoring, liability, reporting….. and of course membership! Today I was in the sunny south east for the ICGP News Southeast training scheme research day. The event marks the near end of the GP registrars 4 years of training. 🇮🇪 New research from the University of Galway - supported by our research arm The MPS Foundation - sheds light on the challenges women doctors in Ireland face when balancing motherhood and their careers. This important project will help to initiate a national conversation on fertility, family planning, pregnancy, and motherhood among women doctors, and its relationship to doctor wellbeing, recruitment and retention. Back on a road trip with my fabulous colleague Rachel Lynch MMII Grad where we experienced all weather seasons in a day! Today we had the pleasure of visiting Kingsbridge Healthcare Group hospital in Belfast where we were generously hosted by Martin Shields and Katrina Keating CMIOSH MSc BSc (Hons) Env Dip NEBOSH . Great conversations about patient safety, risk management, education and supporting clinicians.
