  • The UK doesn’t just have climate resilience challenges; it has a resilience valuation problem too. Climate resilience is being undervalued and how it’s measured is shaping everything. - What gets funded - What gets delayed - What gets missed The issue is how the value is defined and it’s time for the UK to rethink this to make better decisions for the longer term. We’ve pulled out a few reasons why from our response to the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)’s consultation on the economic value of climate resilience. If you would like deeper insight into rethinking climate resilience, read Madeleine Rawlins’ article in New Civil Engineer: https://mottm.ac/4wkhyK8

We're pleased to have signed a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) agreement with AtkinsRéalis and Mott MacDonald. Mark Dearden, Executive Director, Infrastructure Projects Delivery: “Our Client operating environment is evolving, and we must rise to this challenge by finding innovative ways to deliver on-time and at good value for public money. This is an exciting opportunity to build relationships with our suppliers based on trust and transparency, that will lead to consistent and predictable outcomes through greater pace and right first-time delivery.” Meredith Boden, Interim Chief Commercial Officer: “This agreement marks an important step in formally launching our SRM journey, with a clear focus on strengthening collaboration to drive improved delivery and commercial outcomes. It reinforces the opportunity to align our organisations around shared objectives, create greater transparency and accountability, and support our people to achieve predictable, high-performing delivery across our programmes.” This reinforces our one-team approach to delivering the complex infrastructure programmes that are keeping the nation safe, ensuring we are accountable for performance and delivering value for money with our supply chain partners. • Almost one million young people aged 18-24 in the UK are not in education, employment or training. That's why we're proud to continue and expand our partnership with One Million Mentors in 2026. Since 2024, our colleagues have committed more than 500 hours of mentoring to support young people as they build confidence, develop employability skills and explore future career opportunities. The impact is clear: - Four mentees from the HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd cohort have secured full-time employment - Four more have moved into part-time work or further progression opportunities - 78% of participating young people come from ethnically diverse backgrounds These aren't just statistics. Behind every number is a young person gaining confidence, finding direction and taking their next step forward. A huge thank you to our volunteer mentors for giving their time, sharing their experience and supporting young people to realise their potential.

  • Are buildings projects getting the most from off-site construction in the Middle East? With ongoing pressures on project costs in the Middle East due to the regional conflict, modern methods of construction (MMC) are more strategically important than ever. Early adoption of #MMC can reduce exposure to labour and materials shortages, improve cost certainty and add value through faster, safer, higher quality delivery. Mohamad Hamade, our client director for project delivery in the #MiddleEast, shares five steps to help the industry achieve the benefits of off-site construction by shifting from a ‘building’ to a ‘manufacturing’ mindset. Read the full article to learn how to overcome some of the barriers to off-site construction and improve programme delivery. 👇 https://mottm.ac/4fHz1Go #MottMacMiddleEast #BuildFast #BuildSmart

  • This week we celebrated the structural completion of Burton Green Tunnel, a 700m-long green tunnel that will carry HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd trains beneath the Warwickshire village. By taking the railway below-ground and restoring the landscape above, the tunnel will help maintain the Kenilworth Greenway, an important route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, while maintaining ecological links across the area. Design work on Burton Green Tunnel began in 2019, with our Design Joint Venture with SYSTRA bringing together specialists from across engineering, architecture, landscape and environmental disciplines. Combining expertise from every angle, the team developed a design that balances complex technical requirements with the needs of the surrounding landscape and communities. A proud achievement for everyone involved.

  • Ravi Uppar has been at home on construction sites since he was a young boy, when he used to accompany his father to sites in Karnataka, India. Today he lives in the #UAE, where he is currently a senior resident engineer on a major redevelopment of the Mall of the Emirates, one of Dubai’s busiest shopping destinations. In this blog, Ravi shares his experience of overseeing day-to-day site activities, safeguarding clients’ operations, maintaining trust and keeping programmes moving without disruption. He says site work is “never boring”. “When you’re on-site you really appreciate the scale of the project and the speed of construction. Working in a live operational environment also makes you very aware that every decision must be precise, safe and fast.” 👉 Read his career story so far and explore our roles: https://mottm.ac/4ff1Skd #Careers #BrilliantPeople #MottMacMiddleEast

Defence organisations are under growing pressure to accelerate the delivery of critical infrastructure, all while operating in increasingly complex and unpredictable environments. We've captured five steps to successful collaboration in defence, from selecting the right partners and aligning on objectives early, through to managing relationships and capturing lessons learned. In the latest issue of the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW)'s The Partner magazine, Michelle Mortlock, Odilon Serrano, BS MechE, MBA(hons), MICW and John Hansford explore the framework. They share insights based on defence infrastructure programmes, including lessons from the £350m F-35 Beddown Programme at RAF Lakenheath. Swipe to discover more.
