We remain the nation's most switched-to current account provider. The latest Current Account Switch Service data shows that Nationwide recorded the highest net switching gain than any other bank or building society, between January and March 2026. Tom Riley, Group Director of Retail Products, said: “More people continue to choose Nationwide as their banking provider, as reflected in these latest switching figures. Our ongoing success is built on 14 years of market-leading customer service, strong member value through our products, our current account switch incentives and £100 Fairer Share payment. We are also offering real choice in how people bank, whether online, over the phone or in branch, backed by our commitment to keep every branch open until at least the start of 2030. There has never been a better time to join Nationwide.” - Source: http://spr.ly/6043BE03Vl Current Account Switch Service Dashboard Issue 51, published 30.07.2026. Yesterday’s Mansion House speech underlined how far the financial services regulatory agenda has moved over the past two years - and the real impact these changes can have for consumers, businesses and the wider economy. 1. More lending: The proposed changes to capital requirements could enable Nationwide to unlock over £40bn of additional lending to support mortgages, small and medium-sized businesses, and economic growth. 2. First-time buyer support: Greater flexibility on loan-to-income lending has already enabled Nationwide to support additional first-time buyers over the past year. 3. Helping mutuals: Planned reforms to the Building Societies Act funding limit will unlock billions in additional lending capacity for Nationwide and the wider building society sector. 4. Supporting SMEs: The expansion of the Growth Guarantee Scheme will help improve access to finance for smaller businesses looking to invest, scale and create jobs. 5. Promoting skills: Nationwide is proud to be a founding signatory of the Financial Services Skills Compact. A landmark shared agreement between government, the Financial Services Skills Commission and industry to invest in our people, develop talent pipelines and collaborate to close the sector’s skills gaps. Our CEO, Dame Debbie Crosbie, said: "There is always more that can be done to support growth, but this is welcome progress under the UK’s first female Chancellor – and a clear signal of the difference a proportionate, outcomes-focused regulatory system can make."

We welcome plans from the Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee (FPC) to overhaul capital requirements that would enable us to unlock over £40 billion of potential new lending, to support mortgages and small and medium-sized businesses. Our CEO, Dame Debbie Crosbie, said: “This reform would boost the economy by unlocking over £40 billion of new Nationwide lending for mortgages and business growth. A more proportionate framework would recognise the low-risk nature of building society lending while preserving the resilience of the financial system. We are ready to work with regulators to turn that opportunity into real support for the UK economy."

As a signatory, we recognise that cyber security and operational resilience are shared responsibilities. We all have a role to play in raising standards within our own organisations, while also supporting our partners and suppliers to do the same. Dame Debbie Crosbie, said: “Building a more resilient digital economy requires collaboration, commitment and ongoing investment. We’ve supported over 200,000 people through our partnerships with Centrepoint, Action for Children and Dementia UK. And on top of that we’ve funded specialist research roles working on cancer research trials through The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. More than 7,500 colleagues have also played a part, fundraising and volunteering to help make a real difference in communities across the UK.
