“If it wasn’t for the bank, I don’t think I would have had those certificates.” For Jack Melville, learning at NatWest Group has been practical and funded. Over his time at the bank, he has worked across different roles and completed two recognised qualifications with full support. That investment did not stop once the certificates were completed. In his current role, Jack continues to have access to development opportunities and clear plans to build skills in new areas he has not worked in before. This is what learning support looks like in practice. Time, funding, and structure that help people build real qualifications. Have you had an employer that’s invested in you? The #WestMidlands has the industrial strength, research base and entrepreneurial ambition to turn innovation into growth, but founders need the right mix of capital, commercial expertise and networks to make that happen. That’s why we’ve launched a new NatWest Accelerator at Tyseley Energy Park in the West Midlands, in partnership with TEP Birmingham and Webster & Horsfall Group. Based inside an established industrial and innovation cluster, the hub will support founders and growth businesses across all sectors with targeted support, access to capital, expert insight, commercial opportunities and a powerful network of contacts. It builds on the support we’re already providing across the West Midlands, alongside our Birmingham Accelerator and Accelerator with WMG, University of Warwick. Together, these sites are creating a more connected ecosystem for founders working to commercialise ideas, attract investment and scale across the region. Harry Garstang works with technology and data, but his path into the role might not be what you expect. Many people assume you need a technical degree or a straight path into tech. In reality, there are more ways in than most people think. Can you guess where he started? Swipe through the clues and drop your guess in the comments. We’ll reveal the answer next week.
