  • We're proud to see NHFT helping to shape conversations about the future of Health and Justice services at a national level. On 30 June 2026, Dr Sunil Lad was invited to speak at the Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact) Health and Justice: Challenges and Opportunities event, alongside Professor Sir Chris Whitty and other senior leaders from across healthcare, justice and the voluntary sector. The event explored some of the key challenges and opportunities facing the sector, including reducing health inequalities, improving continuity of care, strengthening partnership working and recognising the important role families and carers play in supporting better health outcomes. Dr Lad shared insight into the innovative work taking place across Health and Justice services and the importance of collaboration in improving care for people in contact with the justice system. This invitation reflects the growing influence of NHFT's Health and Justice services and our commitment to improving outcomes for some of the most vulnerable people in society. 🔗 Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/dyAUPVYB

Some people make changes and adaptions in the workplace or education settings. Whilst some individuals use services such as Talking Therapies to support them with cognitive behaviour therapy. The final five videos in our “ADHD – Is an assessment right for me?” section cover all of these areas and can be found under the following headings. 💊 What medication does and doesn’t do ⚠️ Benefits and side effects of ADHD medication 🤸🏻 Managing ADHD with lifestyle changes 🧘 Mindfulness and ADHD 👨 Friends, family and ADHD https://lnkd.in/eV5VmCuA

  • Today we feature some videos on various aspects of ADHD that individuals might like to consider before seeking a diagnosis. These include: 🎉 The positive traits of having ADHD – people with ADHD may experience several positive traits that make careers in certain areas more suitable and may mean people enjoy the company of individuals with ADHD. 🩺 What does a formal diagnosis mean? This video explains what it means to have a formal diagnosis, how symptoms may affect someone with ADHD and the benefits an individual may receive from a formal diagnosis such as increased self-awareness.  🙍 We also have a short video on other conditions with similar symptoms titled “What is not ADHD?”  These videos can be viewed in our section on “ADHD – Is an assessment right for me?” https://lnkd.in/e_jNW7rJ

  • This week, we are sharing some resources from our Adult ADHD service. Like many ADHD teams across England, the service is in high demand, so these resources have been provided to help those who may be thinking about seeking a diagnosis, and to provide support in managing symptoms. ℹ️ During the week we will be providing information about ADHD, what it is and the three different types of ADHD. We explain the symptoms of each type of ADHD and help to provide guidance on when an individual may consider seeking an ADHD assessment.  📝 We will provide details about the different options available to individuals seeking an assessment, what the process involves and what support you might expect to receive after a diagnosis. We also explain what support is available without a diagnosis. 💊 We will also talk about the role of medication in managing ADHD symptoms, what medication does and does not do, and we discuss the side effects and benefits of taking medication. 🍏 We will explain about lifestyle changes that can help to manage the symptoms of ADHD. 🙍 Finally, we will share the experiences of 8 individuals who kindly agreed to talk about their experience of receiving an ADHD diagnosis. They discuss how they have learnt to manage their symptoms, making lifestyle changes, adaptations at work or with medication. These videos are a useful resource to support others newly diagnosed or seeking a diagnosis. In our section on “ADHD, Is an assessment right for me?”, the first two videos “What is ADHD?” the “Three types of ADHD” explain more about what ADHD is and the different types of ADHD and how symptoms can impact on everyday life.   https://lnkd.in/emtZ7gQJ

  • “A place to feel human again” ⭐At NHFT, we want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and everyone matters in our care. ⭐ 🙌 At HMP Littlehey, a unique support group is doing exactly that. Crayfish, a monthly group led by NHFT Palliative Care Nurse Specialist and Queen’s Nurse Maria O’Neill, offers connection and comfort to people affected by cancer and other life limiting conditions. NHFT provides healthcare services in 14 prisons and secured sites across the Midlands. In a prison environment, where people may be separated from family or lack support networks, the group at HMP Littlehey in Cambridgeshire provides a safe space to talk openly, or simply spend time with others who understand. Members often describe it as a family. The impact of the group can be seen in the confidence it builds. People who arrive feeling anxious or withdrawn often grow into active members, supporting others and sharing their own experiences. For Maria, offering this support is about more than healthcare. She says: 🗨 "It's a privilege to walk alongside people on their journey and provide care without judgement." Serious illnesses like cancer can affect anyone, anywhere. Crayfish is helping to ensure that those facing these challenges in prison are met with understanding, dignity and compassion. 👉 You can read more about this inspiring group and explore many more stories in our magazine NHFT Together, celebrating our commitment to providing outstanding, compassionate and inclusive care. 🔗 www.nhft.nhs.uk/magazine
