One in ten people at Omnea have founded a company before, most of them venture-backed. On Thursday 6 August, we're opening the doors at Entrepreneurs First's London HQ to unpack why ex-founders often make the best operators and vice versa. Our Founder & CEO Ben Freeman will sit down with EF Partner Jonny Clifford to discuss the mistakes most first-time founders make, why joining a rocket ship can beat waiting for the perfect idea, and what they wish they'd known at the start. Spaces are filling fast. Apply to join 👉 https://luma.com/l2wpjv59

Omnea 🤝 Tropic Arie spoke with Justin at DPW NY to talk about our partnership. The problem is an old one: suppliers know exactly what every customer pays, and procurement teams are left negotiating blind. Omnea Price Intelligence, powered by Tropic, closes that gap. Every quote and every renewal gets benchmarked automatically inside the workflow: checked against verified, signed contracts, not guesswork. Priced above market? It's flagged and routed for renegotiation. In line? It moves forward. Your team never has to remember to run the check. Watch the full conversation below, and learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eZ58gsgf

Vendors have always known more than buyers, and to me, that's unfair. They know the ranges. They know where the room is in a deal. They know how much you'll pay before you've even seen the quote. That's the imbalance we started Tropic to fix. For years, fixing it meant buyers had to log in to Tropic. Now we're putting that intelligence wherever you work. Our partnership with Omnea takes it a step further: Tropic's proprietary price benchmarks now live directly inside Omnea's intake and orchestration workflows. Not in a separate tool. Right inside the workflow, at the moment the decision is being made. We've spent our entire existence building the data behind this. Tropic started as a negotiation service, collecting data point by data point across every technology supplier we could get in front of. Over time that became something bigger: pricing sourced from our customers, a network spanning thousands, and negotiation tactics our team has pulled from the field, deal by deal. That dataset now represents billions of dollars in verified pricing and negotiation insight, available through MCP & API and built directly into Omnea. As Arie Barendrecht at Omnea put it when we chatted at DPW: get the right data to the right people at the right time. When a quote lands, the system flags if the price is high, if there's room to push back, or if the deal is already fair. That gives buyers two things at once. 1. The confidence they’re getting a good price  2. The intelligence to know when to take action Buyers are trying to save money and move fast. They shouldn’t have to choose between the two.

Six weeks before go-live, Ashim Kapai scrapped the procurement platform his team was already rolling out. The platform would have cleared go-live. What it wouldn't do was keep pace with where Abnormal AI expected to be in two or three years, and for an AI-native company that gap outweighs the cost of changing direction late. "We evaluated solutions against where we needed to be in two to three years, not just where we were at go-live," Ashim, Head of Strategic Sourcing, Procurement and Accounts Payable, told CPOstrategy this month. That thinking sits closely with the theme of this year's DPW New York: Recode. Recoding isn't about tearing up what works. It's a willingness to change course when the evidence points that way, and to do it early, while the cost of correction is still low. Three things stood out to us from Ashim's account: 1️⃣ Procurement now moves at the speed of the business. In an AI-native company, every function is held to a higher standard for how quickly it adapts. 2️⃣ Buying for where the business is heading, rather than where it sits today, becomes a practical necessity rather than a nice-to-have. 3️⃣ Speed is a product of foundations, not shortcuts. Abnormal went from selection to six-plus live workflows in six weeks. What made that hold wasn't the timeline; it was the executive sponsorship, change management and training underneath it. (A shoutout to Omnea's AI adoption team!) The roadmap you buy on ages fast. Omnea was the first procurement orchestration platform to launch a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector, letting teams query supplier, contract and spend data in plain language through tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. Abnormal has already put it to work internally. Our thanks to Ashim and the team at Abnormal AI for sharing the story!

A customer described some workflow functionality in one of our Learning Circles. Less than a day later, it was live in their environment. Within hours, six other customers asked for it too. That's our Technical Solutions team at work. Rebeca Tristan, our VP Customer Experience, wrote about how it works. Read to learn: → How they average under 5 minutes to first response and under 2 hours to resolution, even in the most complex enterprise environments → Why TechSol isn't support in the way you'd expect → How AI is allowing the team to scale and operate faster Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eRNUKU5p And if it sounds like the kind of environment you’d thrive in, we're hiring for this team: https://lnkd.in/evHNtufh

It's easy for tail spend to go unnoticed… a laptop here, a software renewal there, stationery on company cards. That’s no surprise when every purchase has its own process to remember. So people take the off-policy route. Omnea’s Guided Buying brings everything into one place. It steers every request to the right buying channel, so every purchase stays in policy, and you stay in control. Swipe below to see how, and learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eGe5tTjp

The best founder education is a seat at a fast-growing company. That's the thinking behind Omnea's Commercial Associate programme. Get close to how a company is built, and build a core strong skillset. On Thursday 6 August, we're opening the doors at Entrepreneurs First's London HQ to show what that path looks like. Our Founder & CEO Ben Freeman, sits down with EF Partner Jonny Clifford to talk about the road from operator to founder: when to build versus join, what great early-stage looks like from the inside, and what they wish they'd known starting out. If you're an early-career operator who wants to learn how modern AI businesses are being built, you’ll get first-hand insight. 👉 Limited space, apply to join: https://luma.com/l2wpjv59

Headline have taken a novel approach to Europe's leading AI businesses, mapping them to six archetypes. We’ve been named a System Builder, and that’s spot on. We’re reshaping how businesses manage procurement with our agentic operating system. The mascot of the System Builder is the octopus, whose intelligence lives in its arms rather than its head. What those arms have built in the last month: 🐙 Our MCP Server lets teams run procurement from Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot: manipulate data, see where a request is stuck and who's holding it up, then reassign it and raise the priority. 🐙 AI now fills and reviews forms across intake and supplier onboarding, cutting form completion time by 40% and time to approve by 36%. Thank you to the Headline team for the recognition. You can find the full market analysis here: https://lnkd.in/eUAFyxQ8 And if you’d like to build with us, we’re hiring across all roles in London & New York: https://lnkd.in/evHNtufh

Procurement is one of the clearest paths to measurable AI ROI, yet most finance leaders aren't treating it that way. It's process-heavy, data-rich, and unusually traceable to the bottom line, and with the right approach, the gains are direct, defensible, and compounding. Led by Insight Partners' Thomas Norris, and joined by Sabrina Castiglione (Omnea), Ashim K. (Abnormal AI), and Sewell Avant (Veeam Software), last week's Onsite Hour covered what actually works when you're trying to get real ROI out of procurement transformation. Three takeaways for operators: • The teams moving fastest on AI procurement are piloting full workflows, building real integrations, and testing edge cases before they commit. That discipline is what turns AI investment into compounding operational advantage. • Spend visibility is the foundation on which everything else is built. Companies that know exactly where their money is going make faster, more defensible decisions about where AI can have the most impact. • AI pricing models are shifting from per-seat to consumption-based, and most finance teams haven't updated their planning frameworks to match. Modeling token usage before a POC begins is now a core procurement competency. Want more conversations like this? Join us at ScaleUp:AI on October 6, where top founders, executives, and AI innovators share practical lessons on building, deploying, and scaling AI. Learn more and register: https://scaleup.events/
