You've heard of product-led growth, but what about signal-led growth? Signal engineering or designing isn't new, it's been around for years in verticals like gaming. But only recently has it found a name, partly thanks to people like Thomas Petit teaching the market (and clients) how to get more out of ad platforms like Meta. Paid media today is really just three levers: budget, creative, and what you optimize towards. The first two get obsessed over, but businesses tend to gloss over the third. Ad platforms like Meta learn exactly what you teach it, so if your signal is wrong, you're paying to train it on the wrong leads. And undoing that can take months. Signal engineering is about being intentional with that conversion event, designing it around what actually predicts retention and long-term value, not just what's easiest to track. In our latest sit-down from B2Coast, Paddle's Andrew Davies sits down with Thomas to discuss signal engineering, plus: ❇️ Where AI is genuinely useful in UA vs where it's not effective ❇️ How Thomas decides who to work with  ❇️ Why early founders should go all in on one growth motion (App2Web, IAP or Web2App)  ❇️ The power of web monetization beyond higher net proceeds Full conversation on YouTube 👇

A lot of paywalls are still transactional: Here's what you get, here's the price. Tolan's isn't. It draws on what users shared during onboarding and reflects that back on the paywall itself. Phil Carter points to this as one of the best examples of app personalization on the web right now. It makes the paywall feel less like a sales moment and more like a continuation of the product experience. The result is users who feel understood before they're ever asked to pay. Get Phil's thoughts on why web monetization is slowly becoming a non-negotiable for many in the space 👇

For years, consumer subscription apps had a secret weapon: For most, the marginal cost of serving a subscriber was close to $0. But the world has changed. AI-powered apps are paying for compute on every interaction.  And that puts downward pressure on their unit economics. This makes efficient monetization more important than ever, and one of the best ways to monetize efficiently is with Web-to-App (W2A) funnels. In a recent talk at MAU Vegas, I spoke about the many benefits of W2A: - Faster experimentation: Web tests don't require new app releases - Healthier margins: Web-based checkout avoids 15-30% app store fees - Better cashflow: Stripe payouts take 2-7 days vs. 45-60 days for Apple - Higher ROAS: No ATT restrictions → better ad targeting and performance These benefits have always been significant. For AI apps, they are essential. Which is why many of the best AI apps are going multichannel. How? With dedicated tools that make W2A easy: - FunnelFox for building and testing flows without a single line of code - Stripe for supporting checkout flows and processing payments - Paddle for handling taxes, compliance, fraud, and disputes Want to learn more? In a world where anyone can build, some app founders are getting existential. No, the "APPocalypse" isn’t here just yet. But AI is quietly reshaping how consumer apps get valued, priced, and acquired. For most subscription businesses, the numbers are stronger than ever. Leaner teams, lower OPEX, better margins. But underneath that, harder questions are being asked. Volume-based models capture more spend but they make LTV murkier, cohorts harder to read, and acquirers more cautious about what comes next. Eric Crowley has spent nearly a decade on consumer app M&A, with deals including AllTrails, Flo Health, and Runna. At B2Coast, he sits down with Jimmy Fitzgerald to talk through what these shifts mean for the M&A landscape, and how top apps can set themselves up for sale over the next 3-5 years. In the conversation they cover: 🔹 What a gray market means if you're thinking about selling your app 🔹 The mistakes that are quietly hurting valuations in 2026 🔹 The metric most founders undertrack, and acquirers look at closely 🔹 How AI is reshaping gross margins, monetization models, and the build vs. buy equation 🔹 Why you should be talking to your banker long before you're ready to sell 🔹 The red flag Eric looks for in every M&A deal

More app revenue is moving to the web in 2026. So who's winning, and why? The likes of Tolan, Duolingo, Runna and Strava are all shifting revenue to the web. Fees are a big part of that, but it’s not the only benefit. Freedom and control over pricing, personalization, and UX that app stores don't allow are giving the world’s hottest brands a competitive edge. Zach Witzel, Phil Carter, and Paddle's VP of Product Lucas Lovell unpacked it at MAU Vegas. Five takeaways from the conversation → https://lnkd.in/e4DARBBE
