This morning, we hosted a breakfast roundtable in partnership with The Pension Chapter by The Female Forum. Thank you to Georgia Smith, the Female Forum and all of the attendees for making it such a successful session.
Here’s our recap of today’s roundtable discussion. 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰: A New Blueprint: Delivering solutions to solve the DC retirement puzzle This morning, we hosted another Pension Chapter Breakfast Forum - this time we gathered at Rothesay's beautiful offices. We brought together 30 leaders from across the pensions industry for a thoughtful roundtable discussion on the Nest Retirement Income Solution, exploring how the industry can deliver better retirement income solutions for DC savers. A huge thank you to Georgia Smith, Senior Investment Manager, Fund Proposition at Nest Pensions, for framing the discussion and sharing the thinking behind the Nest solution. Thank you also to Róisín O'Shea and Liberty Gordon-Brown for co-moderating the conversation. A few reflections from the discussion: 𝗔 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 The solution reflects a 10-year journey to create a default retirement income solution for DC members, culminating in the appointment of Rothesay in January 2026 to co-design a market-first bulk deferred annuity for DC savers. A powerful example of innovation, partnership and co-creation. 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 The design brings together flexible invested income in early retirement with guaranteed later-life income through a bulk deferred annuity, aiming to deliver higher sustainable incomes while retaining member flexibility. 𝗔 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 The solution is not only a Nest solution. It offers a template for the future of DC retirement income and creates a foundation the wider industry can learn from and build on. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼-𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 One of the strongest messages from the discussion was the importance of genuine collaboration. This was not simply about pricing or procurement, but about working together to get the design right. A special thank you to our trusted partners Nathalie Sims and Lorraine Porter from LCP, Katie Overton from Rothesay, Charley Smith, CFA from Janus Henderson Investors, and Georgina Stewart from Sackers for their continued support of The Pension Chapter by The Female Forum. ____ P.S. Time to celebrate! This event also marked the first event in our fourth year. Four years of #ThePensionChapter. Four years of building a powerful industry initiative. Four years of convening thoughtful, senior women across pensions to share insight, strengthen relationships and shape the future together. Thank you for being part of our journey! Rothesay’s Head of Business Development, Sammy Cooper-Smith, was delighted to speak with Steve Keating from BCG Pension Risk Consultants ǀ BCG Penbridge in April’s edition of The BCG Pension Insider. Sammy discusses current themes in the UK pension risk transfer market, Rothesay’s journey to becoming the UK’s largest specialist pensions insurer and parallels between the UK and US. You can read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eQKQ-3Ck.
I am excited to share this installment of the BCG Spotlight Series featuring Sammy Cooper-Smith, Head of Business Development at Rothesay. In this piece, Sammy discusses the UK pension risk transfer market and Rothesay’s journey to becoming the UK’s largest specialist pensions insurer. The discussion covers some of Rothesay’s business development highlights from the last couple of years as well as current themes in the UK de‑risking market and parallels with the US. https://bit.ly/4e1JyvZ The scale of de‑risking activity and the UK PRT market’s continued evolution also provides timely context for my upcoming presentation, “U.S. PRT Market Update: Unlocking the Next Phase of Growth”, at the Westminster & City Bulk Annuities conference in London on April 29th. Many of the themes highlighted in this Q&A — UK PRT market size, how the market has been changing, and cross‑market parallels — feature prominently in the broader discussion of global pension risk transfer trends and the considerations facing today’s plan sponsors. Rothesay’s market‑leading position — built over nearly two decades — is evident throughout this Q&A. * Sign up on BCG Pension Risk Consultants ǀ BCG Penbridge’s website to receive The BCG Pension Insider publication in your email each month. https://bit.ly/3ylJ9vz #definedbenefit #pensions #prt #ldi #reinsurance #financialadvisors #plansponsors #leadership

Last week, we were delighted to bring together over 250 professionals to celebrate International Women’s Day in conjunction with the Female Forum’s Pension Chapter. Thank you to Professor Victoria Bateman, the Female Forum and all of the attendees for making it such a successful event.
What an evening... Yesterday we welcomed 250+ leaders from across the UK pension industry to celebrate International Women's Day together in the Great Court of the The British Museum. A real privilege to host this through #ThePensionChapter. The event was powered by Rothesay in partnership with Janus Henderson Investors, Sackers and LCP. A few highlights • A fascinating #fireside conversation with economist #VictoriaBateman on the economic impact of women. History shows a clear pattern: societies flourish when women participate fully in business and commerce, and decline when women’s rights and participation recede. • Rare private access to the historic Reading Room and curated artefacts. • A beautiful raffle prize generously donated by handbag designer Esin Akan. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us. The #conversations and #connections made the evening special. If you were there, I would love to hear: What moment stayed with you the most? Special thanks to the brilliant partners and leaders of #ThePensionChapter: Róisín, Charley, Nathalie, Georgina, Eleanor and Katie. Photos by Circe Hamilton. P.S. Esin kindly offered friends & family of our industry initiative £50 off with code BOLD50 at Esin Akan (valid for 30 days). Details in the comments. #gracefullyBOLD #IWD2026 #PensionIndustry #WomenWealthAndPower #Collaboration
