With the announcement from the #UnitedStates of new imposed tariffs on 60 countries including the #UK, Tavish Scott, CEO of Salmon Scotland, spoke on BBC Scotland Radio earlier today with Hayley Millar on the matter. The new Section 301 tariff took effect today and for #Scottishsalmon, this means the 10 percent #tariff with continue. As the world’s second most important market for Scottish #salmon, the United States is a key destination for #exports. Part of the 2026 Commonwealth Games Scotland set in #Glasgow, we are attending the Scotland India Business Forum. The summit will bring together #trade and #business experts from the #UK and #India to discuss and celebrate the benefits of the new #trade agreement. India is a vital global partner, with the new free trade agreement poised to boost opportunities for Scottish #exporters like #Scottishsalmon. Our CEO, Tavish Scott, will be part of a panel of industry leaders discussing the preparations being made for the India market and the opportunities that it will being to businesses across #Scotland.  We are very much looking forward to the forum and hearing from the likes of Cabinet Secretary Stephen Flynn, the High Commission of India in London and Director of International Trade and Investment, Richard Rollison. Next month, we look forward to welcoming the Soil Association alongside Mowi Scotland and Aquascot to a Cooke Scotland organic #salmon farm site. Executives and trustees from the association as well as members from throughout the #Scottishsalmon sector will see firsthand the expert practices carried out by the fish farmers to ensure their salmon meet and maintain #organic accreditation. Members of the Soil Association requested this visit after attending a previous successful farm visit in October last year. All our farmers have a responsibility to look after their #livestock, whatever the challenge and we're committed as a sector to #investing, innovating and seeking out new solutions to ensure we can manage those issues to the best of our ability. Last week was full of fun at the Clipper Ventures // Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and Festival of the Sea in #Oban. Proudly sponsoring the event alongside Mowi Scotland and Scottish Sea Farms, it was amazing to see the #rural community of Oban come together for this event. The engagement from local businesses, boom of tourists and festival goers along with the positive vibes during the stunning weather made for an incredible time. Known as one of the toughest endurance events on Earth, the #ClipperRace gives adventurers from all walks of life the chance to test themselves in a remarkable challenge. Crews race 40,000 nautical miles around the world on 70-foot yachts, facing fierce weather, vast #oceans and relentless conditions during an epic eleven-month circumnavigation. For the closing ceremonies on Sunday, we marched with the local pipe band and the teams for a parade through the town. Seeing them off for their next leg of the race, the sail teams slipped their lines and waved goodbye with Scottish Sea Farms providing support vessels. As the boats left, they carried out a sail parade across Oban Bay along to #Dunstaffnage, just outside the Scottish Association For Marine Science building. Next to the building, our Salmon Scotland stand was setup in the vendor area, chatting with locals and festival attendees. Mowi Scotland’s #SalmonWagon was there as well, selling delicious #ScottishSalmon with all funds made going straight to #charity. The wagon sold out of all its #salmon, making an amazing £900 for a local charity. We then waved final farewells to the Clipper Race sailors as they officially set off on their final leg of the race, sailing past Scottish Sea Farms Dunstaffnage farm site. Sustainability is about making the most of the resources we have, and the circular economy is helping drive innovation across Scotland's salmon sector. From recycling nets, ropes and farm equipment to finding new uses for materials that have reached the end of their original life, companies across the sector are working to reduce waste and keep valuable resources in circulation for longer. A great example is the collaboration between Gael Force Group and Ocean Kitchen Scotland, which transforms used rope offcuts into colourful plant pots. By giving materials a second life, initiatives like this help reduce waste, support resource efficiency and demonstrate the potential of circular economy thinking in action.
