Why do we care so much about front of bucket visibility? Because of incidents like this one that happened in 2022. Ian was first hit when a telehandler drove forward with its view blocked, then struck him a second time as it reversed.  A reconstruction of the incident found that the telehandler’s raised, waste-filled bucket left the driver, Walter, with little to no forward visibility as he approached Ian. Ian never made it home and Walter has been sentenced to three years and four months for manslaughter. We're often asked - how do I compare to other sites? So it's why we introduced a new measure this year - average detection per runtime hour. The average is is taken from our deployment across the waste and recycling sector. By using 'detections per runtime hour' it gives context to the the data. And it often changes the picture - the vehicle with highest detections on your site is not always the highest when you view detections in comparison with operating time.
