Solio partners with Stats Perform   We are proud to announce that Solio Analytics and Stats Perform have signed a multi-year partnership covering advanced Opta data feeds and co-branded editorial content with Opta Analyst.   'Opta is the absolute gold standard for data in the world of football. We could not be happier about this long-term agreement,' says Jørgen Gjærum, CEO of Solio.   The partnership has already gone into effect and will shape both Solio’s input and output in the coming years.   'Not only does it allow us to deliver even better projections, it also makes it easier for subscribers of our FPL tool to explore and understand the underlying data for themselves – and to bring their own data-backed beliefs into the model. This is a massive step forward for a young startup like ours,' Gjærum adds.   At the launch of the 2026/27 FPL season, Solio’s subscribers will gain access to all the relevant Premier League data Opta provides. From expected goals (xG) and expected assists (xA) to DefCon metrics and much more – all sitting alongside our projections and updating as the season unfolds.   The multi-year agreement is not just about raw data feeds; it also contains extensive collaborative and co-branded content. Oliver Hopkins, Managing Editor, Strategy for Opta Analyst, explains:   'Solio's team understands FPL inside and out, and combining that with the depth of Opta's data opens up some really interesting angles for co-branded features, explainers and analysis we couldn't produce on our own. The end result will be stories that truly help managers understand the numbers behind their decisions, not just follow them.'   RobT, Lead Projections Analyst at Solio, is equally excited about the collaboration: 'Working side by side with the team at Opta Analyst creates new and exciting opportunities for how we talk about FPL from an analytical perspective.'   'Opta Analyst is globally recognised as one of the best in the business when it comes to data-driven storytelling. For Solio, it’s a brilliant opportunity to pair that with our FPL knowledge – and to help people feel confident using data to make their own calls,' says RobT.

  • Opta data helped bring one of the FIFA World Cup’s standout brand campaigns to life. Created by Wieden+Kennedy New York, Michelob ULTRA’s “Tab Closed” campaign celebrates Lionel Messi’s FIFA World Cup career across five tournaments. It turns his milestones and records into a creative bar tab concept. The campaign creative was built around statistics supplied by our Data Insights & Research team, with Jeff Mangurten leading the project. The result is a great example of how trusted Opta data can help brands turn major sporting moments into creative stories that continue beyond the match itself. • Spain lifted the trophy yesterday as the World Cup came to a close, and our supercomputer saw it coming from day one. 🏆🇪🇸 Before a single ball was kicked, the Opta Predictor correctly flagged Spain, France, England, and Argentina as our top four contenders. Now, with Spain officially crowned World Cup champions, those pre-tournament projections couldn't have been more accurate. This is the true commercial power of trusted predictive data: creating instant storylines, keeping audiences hooked as probabilities shift, and turning every result into fresh content across live coverage, digital, and social. Data doesn't just measure the game, it drives real commercial value.

France v Spain starts the FIFA World Cup semi-finals today. Before the tournament kicked off, the Opta Predictor had Spain, France, England and Argentina as the four teams most likely to win it. They are now the four semi-finalists. For broadcasters, publishers, brands and rightsholders, this is where trusted predictive data has real value. It creates credible storylines before a tournament starts, gives audiences a reason to follow how probabilities change, and helps turn every result into fresh content across live coverage, digital and social. The Predictor was not built to call every result. It was built to assess team strength, route difficulty and tournament chances across thousands of simulations. As the semi-finals begin, that pre-tournament view has aged very well. See the original Opta Predictor article on Opta Analyst 👇 https://bit.ly/3RhEudR

  • England v Argentina was one of the biggest broadcast moments of this World Cup. For matches with that level of attention, trusted data helps broadcasters add context quickly, accurately and clearly. Proud to see Opta data and insights supporting the BBC, from analysis on the night to the stories that continued across digital and social.

“𝐀 𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 24 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝'𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐢-𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥, 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐊 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬.” – BBC That is a lot of eyes on one game. For over 15 years, Opta have partnered with the BBC to help bring massive sporting moments to life. This semi-final was no different. Opta data and insights were woven into every part of the broadcast – from the rare luxury of a full, uninterrupted hour of pre-match analysis (how many official broadcasters still do that...?), all the way through to the post-match reaction across the BBC website, app and social channels. There were a few "frightening" stats, as Mark Chapman put it. Plenty of inevitable Messi discussion. More than anything, it was another reminder of what a team effort this is, under intense pressure. From Opta's data collection team capturing every live event, to the Data Insights experts turning that data into compelling stories for the biggest names in the industry 👏 Stats Perform

  • Thirty years ago, Opta helped change how football was measured. Today, it is part of the data foundation behind how the game is covered, analysed and understood across media, performance, betting, sponsorship and fan engagement. In a new SportsPro feature, Patrick Lucey, our Chief Scientist, reflects on Opta’s journey from manual data collection and the Opta Index to real-time feeds, advanced metrics, computer vision and AI-powered insights. With the FIFA World Cup reaching its final weekend, the timing feels right. Across the tournament, trusted data has helped broadcasters, publishers, teams and brands turn live moments into sharper stories, richer graphics and more engaging fan experiences. That same foundation is becoming even more important as football moves further into the AI era. Better technology needs better data behind it. For sports organisations, that means accurate, proprietary data, robust models and the context to turn information into intelligence at the speed of live sport. • England play Argentina today for a place in the FIFA World Cup final, and one of the biggest questions around England is hard to miss. Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham have scored 12 of England’s 13 goals at this tournament, making them central to almost everything England have done in the final third. Opta Analyst looks at what that reliance says about England, and how it compares with other teams in World Cup history. For media teams covering matches at this stage of a tournament, those details matter. The right data can turn a familiar debate into a stronger preview, give pundits and writers more context to work with, and help fans understand the story behind the headline. That is where Opta data adds value: trusted context, ready for the moments everyone is already talking about. Read the full article 👇 https://bit.ly/454iuGx
