1. What is the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)?

The Apple Developer Connection is the primary source for technical and business resources and information for anyone developing for Apple software and hardware platforms anywhere in the world. ADC offers developers memberships, products, and services with a website filled with up-to-date technical documentation for Apple technologies as well as business resources to help developer organizations succeed.

2. How do I join ADC?

  1. If you are an ADC Member or you have an Apple ID, please enter your current Apple ID and password and click the "Continue" button.
    • If you have an existing account at Apple (.Mac, Apple Store, iTunes Music Store, AppleCare), please use the same account name and password to log in to ADC.
    • If you do not have an Apple ID, please click the "Join ADC Now" button.(Online membership is free.)
  2. Agree to the ADC Terms and Conditions. You may view and print the PDF version before agreeing.
  3. Enter the requested information and (if needed) choose an Apple ID (account name) and password. If you have an existing account at Apple (.Mac, Apple Store, iTunes Music Store, AppleCare), please use the same account name and password to log in to ADC.
  4. Create a question and answer you can easily remember.
  5. Complete the Profile page thoroughly. You may go back and update your profile at any time. Be sure to check or uncheck the "Customize Your Profile" categories. These selections determine what type of information you will receive via email from ADC. Apple Developer Connection does not share your information with third parties.Basic contact information and choice of "Developer Type" is required.
  6. You may now join a program, purchase developer products, and download available software.

4. What is the ADC Member Site?

The ADC Member Site is a secure site where members may view or use items in their ADC accounts, modify membership profile and preferences, or download a wide variety of development kits, tools, documentation, sample code, and demos.

5. Do I need to enter my Apple ID and password if I want to browse the Apple Developer Connection website?

You may browse the public ADC website at any time without logging in. You will find a wealth of information, documentation, and downloads available to you. However, some downloads, information, and services are restricted to ADC members only and for those, you will be required to log in to the ADC Member Site using your Apple ID and password. If you have an existing account at Apple (.Mac, Apple Store, iTunes Music Store, AppleCare, etc.), please use the same account name and password to log in to ADC.

6. How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from the Apple Developer Connection News?

Create an ADC account or log in to your ADC account with your Apple ID and password, click on the "Profile" link listed under My Account, and then proceed to the Preferences area. Once in Preferences, check the box next to "Send me ADC News," specify whether you wish to receive it in HTML or Plain Text, and click the "Save" button. You may unsubscribe at any time by unchecking the same box and clicking the "Save" button.

7. How can I download Xcode Tools, register for the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, purchase a developer product, etc?

Create an ADC account or log in to your ADC account with your Apple ID and password and proceed to the "Downloads" area for Xcode Tools and other downloadable files. To purchase ADC products and services, visit the online Apple Store.

8. What is the ADC Hardware Purchase Program?

The ADC Hardware Purchase Program allows developers whose ADC memberships include hardware discount benefits to purchase Apple hardware for development or testing purposes at a significant discount. ADC Premier members receive ten ADC Hardware Discounts to use each membership year. ADC Select members receive one ADC Hardware Discount each membership year.

9. How can I get access to pre-release software?

Access to pre-release software for early compatibility testing, bug reporting, and technology adoption is a benefit of ADC Select and ADC Premier membership. Need more information?

10. How can I license (insert product name here) product from Apple?

If you use all or part of any Apple software in a program that will be distributed to other people, you need to license the use of that software from Apple Computer, Inc. For information about licensing Apple software, please visit the Software Licensing website or contact Apple’s Software Licensing department at sw.license@apple.com or call 1-512-674-2645.

11. What is the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC)?

The annual Worldwide Developers Conference is Apple's most important event for hardware and software developers, including QuickTime content developers, IT managers, in-house developers, and system administrators. Thousands of developers from around the world come to California each year to receive strategic information from Apple executives and attend more than a hundred in-depth technical sessions given by Apple's technical architects and engineers.

12. Does ADC provide RSS feeds? How do I subscribe to ADC RSS feeds?

ADC provides RSS feeds to help developers keep informed on the latest ADC information. We currently provide two RSS feeds, one for ADC Headlines, which mirrors the news items that appear in the "Headlines" box on the ADC Home page, and another more selective feed for the ADC Reference Library, which mirrors the "New and Updated" sidebar on the Reference Library Home page. Note that the ADC Headlines RSS feed includes everything in the Reference Library feed.

To subscribe to one of the feeds, simply add the appropriate URL to your RSS reader application. The easiest way to do this is to drag the RSS icon to the appropriate place in your RSS reader.

14. How do I unsubscribe from Apple Developer Connection communications other than the ADC News?

To unsubscribe from ADC communications other than the ADC News, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Contact ADC
  2. Fill in all the fields on the Contact ADC form
  3. For the Subject line, choose "Unsubscribe" from the pull down menu
  4. In the Request Details field, please provide information about the specific communication(s) you no longer wish to receive.

Note: Please allow up to one full week for changes to take effect.
