Hasselblad offers Phocus software for Mac

by Peter Cohen, Macworld.com

Professional camera manufacturer Hasselblad is now offering Phocus, software for Mac users of its cameras. Pricing was not announced.

Phocus helps users correct color aberration, distortion and vignetting, manages color control and balance, and removes moiré patterns from high-resolution images. It also includes camera controls including live video for shot set-up and workflow and lens drive control for remote focusing.

Phocus’s interface can be tweaked to suit different workflow situations, to allow photographers to choose import source, manage browsing and image comparison, file management, image export formats, option presets and more. It also extends metadata management for cataloging and indexing images and includes added GPS data.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.5 or later, G4 or better (Intel included), 2GB RAM or more and a compatible camera, including the H3D, H2D, H1D, CF, CF-MS, CFV, 503CWD and Ixpress products.

Phocus was first release as a public beta earlier this year, but this marks the software’s debut as a commercial product.
