MobileMe, Apple ID: "This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons" alert appears

Release date: Wed, 12 Nov 2008 17:46:00 GMT

For your protection, your MobileMe account is automatically (partially) disabled if your account password is incorrectly entered numerous times. This also affects services you may access via Apple ID because your Apple ID is the same as your MobileMe account, in the form of username@me.com or username@mac.com.
In this situation, the following message appears when you try to use online services with your Apple ID, such as the iTunes Store:
"This Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons"

The following message appears if you try to access the Account tab on the MobileMe site:
"Access to Account has been automatically disabled for security reasons. You must reset your password before making any changes.
A MobileMe account may become locked because of too many incorrect login attempts. Resetting your password ensures your account's security."

Note: "Partially disabled" means:

You cannot open the Account pages within MobileMe. This keeps you from editing your personal information or purchasing add-ons to your MobileMe account.
You still have access to all other MobileMe services, including Mail, Calendar, Contacts, and iDisk.
