Amazon RDS DB Parameter Group Deployment Guide
DB Instances that you create using Amazon RDS come with default MySQL configuration settings that will work for most of your needs. If you need to customize these settings, Amazon RDS enables you to do so using DB Parameter Groups. However, changing these settings can have unintended effects ranging from degraded performance to system crashes. As a result, changing configuration parameters from recommended values should be attempted only by advanced users who wish to assume the risks introduced by modifying the default settings. For those advanced users, this guide describes how to deploy DB Parameter Groups while minimizing the impact and risk of introducing unintended or detrimental impacts to your DB Instances.
