Search for & email contacts in Gmail
You can find your contacts and email them from Gmail.
Find contacts in Gmail
- Open Gmail.
- In the top left, click Gmail or Mail.
- Click Contacts.
Search contacts
- Go to Google Contacts.
- In the top search box, type a name, email address, phone number, or other contact details.
- Click Search
.
- To view details, click a name.
Email contacts
- Open Gmail.
- Click Compose.
- In the "To" field, type the contact’s name or email address.
- Click the contact you want to email.
Names aren't showing up as I type
When you start typing a contact's name or email in the "To," "Cc," or "Bcc" field, Gmail will auto-complete their information.
- Check that you’re using a supported browser.
- If you’re using a supported browser and still having problems, sign out of Gmail.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Sign in to Gmail again.
Delete emails from auto-complete
To remove emails from the list of automatically suggested contacts in Gmail, you can delete your contacts or delete automatically saved contacts.
