You can choose who can see where you are on a continuing basis and for how long using Google Location Sharing.
Note: Other Google products may also allow you to share a one-time location with others.
You need a mobile device to share your real-time location through Location Sharing, but you can control your Location Sharing settings from a computer. Learn more about how to use the Google Maps app to share your real-time location.
See where someone is
If someone shares their location with you through Location Sharing, you can see them on Google Maps.
- On your computer, open Google Maps

- Click Menu
Location sharing.
- Choose someone.
Hide someone's location
If you no longer want to see someone who has shared their real-time location with you on Google Maps, you can hide their location from appearing.
- On your computer, open Google Maps
.
- Click Menu
Location sharing.
- Tap their icon.
- To temporarily hide someone, tap HIDE ON MAP. You can stop hiding them at any time.
Note: You can stop someone’s location from ever appearing on your map. Learn how to block another person’s account.
Stop hiding someone
- On your computer, open Google Maps
.
- Click Menu
Location sharing.
- Hover over the hide icon next to someone.
- Click Show on map.
Stop sharing your real-time location
- On your computer, open your Location sharing settings.
- Next to the person with whom you want to stop sharing, click Remove
.
Location Sharing availability
You may see a warning when you open Location Sharing. Common causes include:
- You're in a country/region where you can’t share your location.
- You're too young to share your location.
Note: Your parents can manage Location Sharing with the Family Link app. - Location Sharing isn’t available for your G Suite domain. You can ask your administrator to turn on this feature.
