Purpose

To support our stated mission, it is imperative that ARIN be fully staffed with well-qualified, motivated, and highly productive employees. Our goal is to attract, develop, retain and appropriately compensate employees of the highest caliber so that ARIN can continue to perform its mission for the Internet community.

Philosophy

ARIN has a documented compensation philosophy and structure that it uses to set salaries. The overall compensation philosophy is to provide our employees pay and benefits that are commensurate with other similar companies in our geographic region. ARIN’s compensation structure also considers individual performance, tenure, experience, education, position type, and local market conditions. ARIN is located in Northern Virginia along the high-tech Route 28 corridor, which is one of the major centers of information technology in the country. The area continues to attract an ever-growing number of technology-based organizations. In addition, the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area makes the list of the top ten areas in the nation for the cost of living expenses.

The ARIN Participant Expected Standards of Behavior ensures a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all who participate with ARIN-hosted events and ARIN mailing lists. These standards establish a clear expectation for conduct that promotes an inclusive environment where everyone feels empowered to engage fully.

The Standards of Behavior applies to all participants of an ARIN event, including ARIN staff, members of the Board of Trustees, Advisory Council (AC), Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC). Participation includes, but is not limited to, virtual or in-person activity at Public Policy and Members Meetings, ARIN outreach events such as ARIN on the Road or ARIN in the Caribbean, mailing lists, and other related activities.

ARIN's IRS 990 Form

ARIN is required to submit an IRS Form 990 titled “Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax.” This form is submitted by tax-exempt and non-profit organizations to provide the Internal Revenue Service with annual financial information.

The subject line should be “request”, and the message should specify whether you wish to receive this information as a PDF or hardcopy. If you wish to receive a hardcopy, include complete mailing information. PDF will be returned to the email address used for the request unless otherwise specified.

Quarterly Travel Expenses

Since 2018, ARIN has provided a quarterly report of ARIN-paid travel costs to significant Internet events so that the community can better understand the costs and value involved in providing outreach to other regions.

Registration Services Audit Reports

ARIN periodically engages an independent firm to conduct a full review and audit of the Registration Services Department’s processes and procedures to ensure consistency with the policies described in the Number Resource Policy Manual (NRPM). In the most recent audit, the following areas were examined:

Assess ARIN’s current Registration Services Department (RSD) processes against ARIN’s Number Resource Policy Manual (NRPM) in the following areas:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address space allocation, transfer, and database record maintenance (both public and internal) for version 4 (IPv4) and version 6 (IPv6)
- Fraud detection, prevention, and follow-up
- Autonomous system number (ASN) allocation, transfer, and record maintenance
Test specific tickets, on a sample basis, from all types of customer requests to validate that NRPM requirements and internal procedures are consistently followed
