AHLEM Melrose Place is now open. The atelier continues an ongoing exploration of space—one deeply rooted in AHLEM’s design philosophy and brought to life through a long-term collaboration with architect Maja Bernvill. For this particular site, Bernvill and AHLEM initiate a conversation with the legacy of Austrian-American modernist Rudolph Schindler and the conceptual approach of Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. The project engages Schindler’s innovative ideas about light, flow and material integrity, as well as Sugimoto’s commingling of the immediate and the eternal, as shared concerns that resonate within AHLEM’s identity. AHLEM approaches the built environment as an extension of thought and mood—where material and form are not decorative but expressive. AHLEM’s Voyager Collection emerged from a moment of travel and transformation. During a recent journey to Hokkaido, founder and designer Ahlem Manai-Platt encountered vast terrain, elemental light, and a profound sense of stillness that created the conditions for a different kind of creative attention. The Voyager Collection is built around movement. The frames are defined by silhouette and attitude, with femininity expressed through tension in the line and elongated cat-eye points that create direction and presence. This collection embraces a more confident fashion expression within AHLEM’s repertoire. The two silhouettes, Comédie and Grâce, are produced as limited editions and individually numbered. The Voyager Collection also introduces travel companions designed to carry and protect the frames along the journey, including a slim travel case for four frames and a compact cylindrical case for delicate cargo. Together, the frames and accessories form a system conceived for travel: objects designed to move with their wearer across cities, landscapes, and transitions.
