Two-thirds of New Mexico high schoolers now can't graduate without learning how money works. Read that again. Great article from the Albuquerque Journal about teachers across #NewMexico spending part of their summer sharpening the saw to teach personal finance. Hat tip to Think New Mexico, Fred Nathan and Mandi Torrez, who have been pushing for this since 2020. The scoreboard: 56 of 89 districts now require the course to graduate, and every high school in the state offers it. And to Professor Charlie Bergman of St. Johns College (Santa Fe), who told the room he wants New Mexico to be the national leader in personal finance education. And he's doing everything in his power to make that a reality. The 2024 bill to guarantee the course for every New Mexico student may have fallen short but state leaders like Fred, Mandi and Charlie are changing that reality one district at a time. #PersonalFinance #Mission2030 https://lnkd.in/gjkXqGWM
