While “ambush marketing” usually means fighting official sponsors for attention, this year, clever brands took a different route. Instead of competing on spend, they tapped into fan frustration over the event’s soaring costs and hyper-restrictive corporate rules. They leaned into the beautiful game with a wry eye. FIFA’s strict guidelines became creative inspiration to reflect the fan experience of the rare sport capable of capturing the world’s attention every four years. They proved you don’t need a nine-figure sponsorship to win the tournament. Instead, channel the mood of the moment and invite fans in on the joke. Planning your brand promotions like a math problem IS the problem. Good promotions offer more than a discount. They should connect with shoppers’ individual needs at the moment of decision. That’s why Amp employs our Nudgenomics™ framework to understand the behavioral triggers that motivate shoppers and shape successful promotional strategies. Check out our new white paper for real examples of how behavioral science can pair with your own business objectives. Are Brands Missing Wellness’s Most Powerful Demographic? The WSL retailmediaIQ Women’s Wellness event highlighted a massive shift driven by women and their view of Wellness as holistic and a requirement. Despite controlling the majority of healthcare spend, this demographic remains underserved. Longevity Over Anti-Aging The $5.3T longevity market reflects a transition from aesthetic "anti-aging" to proactive health preservation. Women are rejecting toxic positivity for a "Real & Raw" approach, demanding fact-based claims and self-directing their care through deep research into technology and ingredients. All while challenging core resources like unclear claims or asking their healthcare provider to look deeper, consider alternative care and customize a solution for them - this is no longer just nutrition, exercise and supplements. Mainstream Solutions Once taboo, menopause is now a major category as Gen X and Millennials demand holistic solutions for better everything from cognition and mental health to bone and sleep needs. They’re looking for solution based products that may not even be there. While 80% of women are finding education themselves on social media, brands face systemic challenges with traditional search algorithms that struggle to connect users with essential products based on need state instead of traditional categories of the store. This is creating a significant "white space" for both manufacturers and retailers to rethink their marketing messaging. Evolving Discovery & Access With women in high stress modes and carrying 75% of the at home labor burdens, convenience is essential. Female shoppers are moving away from traditional aisle and category based browsing toward solution seeking via AI-driven tools. Retailer solutions like WM Sparky and Instacart Cart Assistant for personalized, need-based discovery may be part of the answer - imagine solving for a need state in shopping mode vs searching for vitamin C to add to cart. Success requires brands to reduce friction and align with these seamless, digital-first search behaviors. The Opportunity for Brands Wellness is now a lifestyle requirement. Marketers have an opportunity to bridge the gap between demand and current offerings by redefining store layouts, product mixes, and brand narratives to be more playful, communal and solution focused. At AMP we were more than inspired by the content shared and a crew of insight curious marketers and commerce experts are digging deeper… stay tuned for what we come up with next!
