On April 22, American President Lines, LLC (APL) joined more than 100 maritime industry representatives on Capitol Hill for the fourteenth Maritime Industry Congressional Sail-In. Bringing together U.S.-flag carriers, maritime labor organizations, State Maritime Academies, and industry stakeholders, the Sail-In provided an opportunity to engage policymakers on the importance of a strong U.S.-flag fleet to the nation’s economic, military, and homeland security. APL and industry colleagues met with Members of Congress and their staff to reinforce key maritime priorities, including full funding for the Maritime Security Program, protection of the Jones Act, advancement of the SHIPS for America Act to increase the US Flag cargo base, and continued investment in maritime training and infrastructure. This Presidents' Day, we recognize the leaders who have helped shape our nation and the values they represent. At APL, we honor that legacy by naming our vessels after U.S. presidents. Since our earliest days, APL ships proudly flying the U.S. Flag and bearing presidential names have crossed oceans around the world, carrying not only cargo but also a tradition of leadership and commitment that continues to define our fleet today. Featured vessels below include the Presidents Cleveland and Wilson, the President Kennedy, and one of our newest vessels, the President Reagan. Which presidential name would you love to see proudly flying the U.S. Flag on the seas next?
