The decisions healthcare leaders are making right now around AI adoption in value-based care will define their financial performance for the next decade. But there’s a major blind spot: general-purpose AI models are only as good as the underlying data and raw claims data is notoriously noisy, delayed, and unstandardized. In our our latest blog post, our Head of Product Jiaming Wang explores why healthcare teams don't just need fast answers, they need actuarial-grade AI that can clean, structure, and trace every insight back to core benchmarks. "Arbital brings a level of actuarial expertise to value-based care that is essential for our team... Flex makes that expertise accessible instantly." — Beth Houck, CEO of SonarMD When SonarMD needed to unlock actionable insights from their data, they couldn't afford to wait months on a standard software implementation queue. They needed actuarial-grade answers on their own timeline. By leveraging Arbital Flex ⚡, their team was extracting meaningful, transparent insights from their data within days of getting started with zero implementation bottlenecks. ⤵️ Read the full launch story and see how Arbital Flex is changing the timeline for value-based care analytics (link in comments!) #ValueBasedCare #HealthcareAI #HealthcareAnalytics #ActuarialScience #HealthTech

I've sat in a lot of meetings where a risk contract settlement comes back worse than expected and someone asks why nobody saw it coming. I've had that meeting in consulting. I've had it on the provider side. For the last two and a half years at Arbital Health, I've been building product to fix it. AI can give you a member-level answer in seconds. But it will give you that answer just as fast whether your data is right or wrong. I wrote up what I've learned about why clean data, not the AI itself, is what actually makes #VBC analytics trustworthy. Give it a read ⬇️ #ValueBasedCare #HealthTech #ActuarialAI

Today, we're launching Arbital Flex: putting actuarial-grade analytics directly in your hands, so payor and provider organizations can proactively manage #valuebasedcare performance, instead of just report on it. ⚡ Built for speed and accessibility, Flex works with your own data, on your own timeline, without a full platform implementation or an existing risk contract. Upload your data directly and start querying it using the same #ActuarialAI engine our full platform clients rely on. Upload your data. Skip the implementation. Get to insight fast. Thanks for having me as a guest on your podcast, Amir Bormand! It's both an exciting and exhausting time in software engineering right now, driven by the dramatic acceleration in the capabilities of LLMs and coding agents over the last year. I hope our conversation is useful to others who are rethinking the boundaries between engineering and other parts of their organizations regarding responsibilities for building products. Many product managers and designers are already getting much closer to the code. Coding agents dramatically reduce the friction between having an idea and building a working prototype. Our Product team at Arbital Health has been able to iterate on ideas far faster, in part because they don't need to wait for a spike, PoC, or MVP to be fully built. Our Engineering team has experienced a massive productivity boost by reducing the number of discussions necessary to turn a requirements document into production-quality code that meets all acceptance criteria. This is also an incredible time for subject matter experts to have a larger and faster impact on what gets built. Taking the next step to embed SMEs in Engineering, as we have with our actuarial engineers, won't work in every industry, but I think it is worth considering in ones like ours.
The future of engineering may involve fewer handoffs to engineering. Not because engineers matter less. Because AI may let subject matter experts get much closer to the work earlier. I spoke with Robert Stewart, CTO at Arbital Health, about how his team is bringing actuarial expertise closer to product and engineering. A few parts that stood out: • In complex domains, the subject matter expert may become much more than the person writing requirements. • AI tools reward teams that can write clear context, acceptance criteria, and constraints. • Pairing a domain expert with an experienced engineer may be more useful than traditional pair programming. • Technical interviews are shifting from “can you code without AI?” to “can you use AI with judgment?” We also got into fake candidates, remote interview signals, screen sharing, and why the prompt may reveal more than the final code.
