We are excited to welcome Virginia Luther to the Ascend Board! Virginia is the Managing Director for Lincoln Property Company (formerly The Spectrum Companies). She provides investment and development services to firms and building owners in Charlotte. The depth of industry knowledge she brings is a great addition to the Board, and we are grateful for her gift of time and talent!

We welcome Diego Ramon as one of our newest Board members. Diego is the Regional Director for Mutual of America South Atlantic region. He brings years of experience in retirement education and working with clients in the nonprofit sector. We are grateful for Diego’s commitment to serve in this capacity and excited to work with him!

The Ascend Nonprofit Center is closed today in observance of the 4th of July (tomorrow) so our tenants can celebrate Independence Day with their family and friends.

As our fiscal year comes to an end, we express our gratitude to the Board members completing their service. Tra Kelly served six years, and during his time, he served two years as Board Chair, two years as Vice Chair, and offered leadership and guidance on the Governance Committee. Lilliam Nuñez-Rodríguez MBA, SHRM SCP served three years, sharing her knowledge and expertise as an HR professional and serving on the Shared Services Committee. Thank you Tra and Lilliam for your years of support and dedication to the Ascend mission!

Congratulations to our afternoon security guard, Ebony, on her graduation from Rising Tide Capital’s Community Business Academy. Ebony worked hard to complete her studies in Entrepreneurship. She plans to take additional courses in preparation of opening and operating a group home for children.

Please join us in welcoming Michele Lindsey to the Ascend Human Resources team. Michele has been assisting our HR department in a temporary role until recently when she was hired on as an official employee. When she is in the office, she is the HR Administrator. Outside the office, Michele enjoys biking and hiking with her husband.

The Ascend Nonprofit Center is closed today in observance of Juneteenth, providing our community with meaningful time for reflection, education, and the celebration of freedom.

Dana Young, CPA, VP, Accounting Services – Business Intelligence & Projects at Compass Group USA, joined the finance committee in 2019. Dana’s experience with leading accounting projects and initiatives has made her a valuable member of the committee. Thank you, Dana, for sharing your time and talent with us!

Arts+ (Formerly Community School of the Arts) moved into the Center in 2022 but has utilized our shared services since 2018. They connect children, adults and families to art and music education through private lessons, group classes and workshops, school programs, summer camps and more.
