The journey of cement starts long before construction begins.  The cement manufacturing process begins with the mining of limestone, marl, and clay from quarries. These materials are crushed, ground and blended before being heated in a kiln at temperatures approaching 2,000°C, where they are transformed into small granules known as clinkers. The clinker is then finely grounded with gypsum to produce cement—the essential ingredient used in the concrete that helps build roads, bridges, hospitals, water systems, and other critical infrastructure.
