The power equation is changing — and thermal energy is stepping up to meet power demand as part of the broader energy strategy. In the latest episode of Said Differently, we're joined by Vice President Brian Miller and Project Director JD McNulty, who break down combined-cycle generation, explain why reliability standards for these projects are so rigorous, and discuss how Barton Malow’s self-perform depth is positioning the company to lead as the industry scales to meet demand at a rapid pace.

Barton Malow President + CEO Ryan Maibach recently appeared on the Bricks & Bytes podcast to discuss AI, leadership, and more. Listen to the episode below. ⬇️
"Have we seen the productivity benefit from that? I think it's reasonable to say that no, no, we haven't." That is Ryan Maibach, President and CEO of Barton Malow, on the software stackhis own teams are carrying. Roughly 40 different tools for a project manager. Around 35 for a superintendent. He is not describing a company that failed to adopt technology. He is describing one that adopted a lot of it and is now counting the cost. His point on this week's episode was not that the tools are bad. Several of themwork. It is that digging foundations, placing concrete and erecting steel have not fundamentally changed, while the process wrapped around those activities has grown exponentially more complex. He is seeing burnout, and he is not seeing the productivity. Then he took it somewhere harder. If a construction manager exists partly to help a client overcome informationasymmetry, and AI hands that client the same knowledge directly, what is the service actually worth? Full episode out now. Last Friday, Barton Malow hosted The Engineering Society of Detroit's Girls in Engineering Academy (GEA) for a day of hands-on STEM exploration at our headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. GEA supports middle and high school girls in pursuing STEM fields through a whole-person, project-based approach, and this visit gave 30 local high school sophomores the chance to see those fields in action. Leadership kicked things off with an intro to construction, then students rotated through a career fair passport, meeting Barton Malow team members in design management, accounting, project management, preconstruction, and VDC. They explored their strengths through a career vision board and RIASEC assessment, joined an innovation fair, and finished by building a scaled model of a local landmark — estimating costs, planning the build, and racing the clock through procurement and construction, just like a construction manager would. We're proud to support programs like GEA that open doors to STEM careers for the next generation!
